Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I went to this school and it was horrible. It's is highly unorganized and rude. The school is nasty and the student are disrespectful. I highly recommend you don't go to this school. Some teacher are good but most act like the students and don't care about school. This school mostly cares about its extra curriculum activities likes sport. The sport teams are good but they only care for the "great" players. Every sport out there has favoritism and wouldn't care if a player doesn't get in the game. This school will only bring your child down. Also lunch sucks!

Because based on the struggle that we currently are enduring, the students and staff members are so highly motivated to make a change. We are currently considered a failing school based on the school grade but our students are rearing the change this. Our teachers have been going the extra mile to ensure that the students are not only provided with the needed resources to achieve but also provide students with nurturing and guidance. In short, we are giving students an outlook that will increase their productivity in the future. We are now ensuring that students are enrolled in AP and dual enrollment courses, increased summer internships and hands-on extended curriculum activities. I love the eagerness and drive of my school.

I live in the community and therefore I have a vested interest in the education of the students, they are my neighbors. I see them at the library, at stores, at the parks; I need to know that they are educated and contributing members in the community and to society at large. I need to see them show school spirit by saying "hi" with a smile, showing Norland like behavior, which is exemplary, and wearing school colors on their jackets and uniforms. I love my community, especially the school where I work, I wear my colors daily, I am a die hard Viking with a lot of pride! Go Vikings!

Miami Norland Senior High School appears to be a great school to attend. My peers have great pride in their school. They conduct themselves appropriately. They have great amounts of respect for their teachers and all staff members and fellow classmates. I am proud to be a Viking and walk through the halls of Miami Norland Senior High School with great pride.

I would like to say I attend Miami Norland Sr. High and it is not all that bad. I am pride to say that I graduate from Norland because Norland prepare me for the real world. Norland do have plenty of teachers who actuality teaches, who actually take time out to help the students. Even though we went through three principals, they each help Norland out in their own way. I can honestly say that Norland have changed for the better. We are now on a new adventure, we set sail to a difference place and if you is not ready to see us make it, then I feel sorry for you.

I went to this school for just a week and oh my god some of the students there are bad and are not ready to learn in some of my classes the teaching is poor if you ask for help somettimes they will sometimes help but some of them dont help and say you need extra tutoring after school, its not a friendly place at all where you can make decent friends with, i dont regret leaving the school for such a short time being there

This is sad state affairs for this school to be face with the threat of being closed. My son is a freshman at Norland Sr. High and my son and I attend the freshmen orientation. And of all things that were mention the only thing that I have notices that wasn t up to par is security not enforcing the dress code and safety of the school. I feel what can help Norland succeed in improving the school is first hire security that is not only there to get a check, and really care about the welfare of the kids. It s a shame that you have some students terrorized by kids that only focus is to start trouble. We also need more school police available. I think instead of threating to close the school down. What happen to the alternative schools that basically are for troubled students. Remove them out of public

I love Miami Norland Senior High. I've been here since 9th grade and now I'm a senior. The teachers are great they take their time and help u when you really need it. Sometimes it may seem like they're comming down hard on you but they're just trying to push to do your best.

These young men and women need motivation. There are some excellent teachers at norland but they also fall short in some department. As for security... poor, poor, poor. It takes no extra effort for a child to skip school. I won't even bother to talk about what happened to my child. It still hurts. My child is still at norland only because I know if the attitude is not right it does not make any difference where they go. I'm trying to help with the attitude. It's time for norland and the school board to do something with this failing school. Back to the drawing board.

Many parents may say Norland is a bad school...But it's really not...Not because we are an ''f'' school doesnt mean anything..The teacher are wonderful its just the kids that need to step up and study and try to focus on what they are being taught...Im a student Im going to the 11th grade and I hope I will learn more this year and I can prove Norland isnt a bad school

I attended Miami Norland and graduated in 2004. I have since completed my bachelors and am currently working on my masters. I have no doubt that Miami Norland laid the foundation for me to continue to be successful in my scholastic career. The faculty and staff are all very caring and despite the school grade, the quality of education is grade A.

norland isnt as bad as everyone claims it to be.When you actually go there and experience it for yourself its a typical highschool. If your child does what he or she has to do,thats all that matters. Education is all i look for in a school. IF norland was to come out of the zone, loose their rediculas uniform policy and get its prioreitys in order I garenty the'll recieve lots of students. Also their acknoledgements would be more higher and parents will veiw the school with more respect.

I been attending Norland ever since 9th grade. Now I am a senior. Norland is a horrible school and I recommend parents not to send their kids there. Norland lacks education but there are a few teachers that are willing to take their time and help the students. The only thing Norland focus on is the sports and extra activities. Instead of building a new gym, Norland should of rebuild the school because the school is breaking down. There is a lack of discipline when it comes to the students....Norland is just despicable

My child is a sr. at Mnsh this year.As a former athlete, i was a very involved parent, although there was not alot of parents equally or minimally involved. Now, that he is no longer involved with sport(s), i now realize that him playing sports sort of prioritized his education.Up until this year, i considered mnsh to be at least an average public school. After a not-so-good educational start for my son, i am extremely disappointed in the lack of education, discipline, fairness, and caring on the part of the administration and overall staff at mnsh. There have been constant fights and other negative incidents, which have really discontinued the school spirit and student involvement at mnsh. Being a former graduate of a dade county public school, i am really surprised at what the public school has become, or lack thereof.

MNSH is doing great. Despite the letter grade assigned to the school, children are graduating and going off to top colleges. They are also getting a lot of scholarships to further their education, and not in sports, in other academic areas. Principal and teachers continue doing what you are doing and the public will sooner or later see the light.

As an alumni of MNSH, I think it's appalling that the majority of the comments here have nothing to do with the school directly. It seems to me that the same major issue exists now that was prevalent when I was enrolled - a distinct lack of caring or interest shown by students and parents. MNSH was my home school, however I was also enrolled in the magnet's charter class. I left for my sophomore to another supposed failing school in Liberty City. I received a top notch education at both locations, but that was directly linked to the effort that my mother and I put into my education. I feel that school grades are misleading and unfair because it gives lazy community members yet another excuse to bad mouth and blame someone for their own pathetic issues.

MNSH may not be the best looking school in the district but they are improving slow but steady! it's not about the looks of a school but about its students and teachers. The principal at MNSH is doing her best it is a lot of work but a Viking never lets anyone see a single drop of sweat drop from their head.Everyone at MNSH is brink of success you just wait and see!!!!!!

This school has potential to be a great one. I think it needs a makeover because the building is small and looks like an elementary school. But they have a great staff who motivate their kids to do well in school.

Miami Norland Senior High School is undergoing a great change. A year ago the school received a new principal. She is a great leader. She is not there to make friends but to handle the needs of the students and falculty. There are many new teachers and I must say that they have higher standards for us than other teachers in the past have had. Miami Norland offers many extracurricular activities and sports. There is something for everyone at Norland. The PTSA also works hard to give the students different opportunities. Overall Miami Norland Senior High School is a school that is really striving for excellence.

Ms. Cunningham is a good start on the road to turning this school around. I have been away from the school for 3 years. I hope that teacher morale, so important for student learning, has improved. I also hope, no pray, that Norland Vikings understand the value of an education.

Miami norland is horrendous. Academically, students are just getting by; yes, honors and ap classes are available; however, the students at norland are not preprared for the rigors of higher level classes. Mnsh is definitely a sports-focused school. If you want to excel as an athlete..Norland is the place to attend. Imagine with all the rat infested, broke-down classrooms, their priority was to build a top of the line gymn. Norland needs to place education not sports in focus. Parental involvement is great (in sports); but lacking in ptsa or parent-teacher meetings. Can't blame the school; blame the parents and the 'I don't care' students.
