INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My son has been at JHE for 3 years and it gets worse every year. I have had horrible experiences with the teachers and the staff. Pre-k was great with Mrs. Quintero although she was always tired and barely had help. Kinder was a good too with Ms Loguzzo although my son fell & got hurt pretty bad twice and the school failed to notify me. I found out in afterschool care when i picked him up hours after the incident. 1st grade was rough, my son absolutely hated going all year. 2nd grade just started and I've already had problems. After school care was a mess... not organized and homework was being done by non-english speaking people. After school care has gotten better under Marthas care but it still needs some work. I am considering changing my son to another school. JHE doesn't have any activities and kids are barely rewarded for their hard work (no ceremonies or certificates). Parents have complained but there haven't been any changes. The principles response is for us to join pta and change it ourselves

Parents are not welcome! Comitted to break up teacher/parent communication, the principal has locked down school and no parent can go inside. Events, class activities, and parent participation are not being encouraged. Parents are frustrated because their complaints are ignored, eventhough the principal is well aware of issues, has done nothing to address them and everything to provoke them. Terrible management!

I love this school and my kids love this school. My daughter graduated from Joe Hall and my son is in the 4th grade. My daughter still loves to visit the school and visit her incredible teachers. I would highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a new school for their children.

The school has down hill in the last year. The parents have been locked out and no longer able to be as involved as they use to be. There are no longer activities the kids enjoy to break up all the learning. THe administration is seriously lacking on many things. Its time for a change in administration.

I love Joe Hall! Both of my daughters have attended this school since Kindergarten and they have both received a stellar education at this public school. I sometimes have to stop and remember that I am not PAYING a high end private school for what we are getting. The teachers and principal and all the volunteers at the school are all competent and care. Joe hall is a fantastic, caring, loving school. You would not be disappointed if your child attends Joe Hall, especially if the principal is Mrs. Abreu. Continue to do the work your team and staff is providing.

I have nothing but great things to say about the school and its teachers. My daughter started in PRE- K with Ms. Quintero and Ms. Gigi - they treated my little 4 yr old like their own. I love them they set a HIGH standard as to what her Kinder teacher should be like. This year I made sure that my daughter had one of the best K teachers and she has - Ms. Loguzzo is very sweet, understanding and if there is ever something wrong she makes me aware - love her! Now there is a BLONDE ART teacher who IS NOT my daughters teacher but who "greets" all the kids in the morning on the side of the school - She is the RUDEST PERSON alive. If your children have her BEWARE !!

I am so happy with this school. The organization, the respect and care that the staff shows for the students and parents. The teachers want their students learn as much as they can and help them to be responsible with their work. Mrs Georgoulakis is one of the best, my respect for her. Education and instruction depends from a team work (family and school) if one do not support the other is impossible to obtain the goal. I have change my kids from different schools because I hadn't found the excellence. Thank you

My second child in this school has also scored very well in the FCAT this year. He is in the 3rd grade and moving on to the 4th after scoring a 5 and 4. I am very proud that we chose Joe Hall Elementary for our children. I would also like to show appreciation to two great teachers at Joe Hall Elementary. Mrs. Rubin (retired) and Mrs. Nierenberg (passed away). Both teachers contributed to my son's education. Thank you so much.

My daughter has been going to Joe Hall since Kindergarten, she is now in 4th grade. Now my son is just starting K and they both love the school and their teachers. I'm very happy with the school administration specially the principal and office staff. The teachers are great and very dedicated. Mrs. Paez, Ms. Apleker, Ms. Hoover, Ms. Kelly and Ms. A.Perez are very gifted teachers. In general, this is one of the best elementary schools of the county.

Joe Hall Elementary is an outstanding school! As a parent, one always wants the best for thier child. Joe Hall provides the children with an excellent education, as well as a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. My daughter is a student there and she is happy to be a part of such a great place. She is eager to learn and enjoys going to to school. Some teachers that definitely deserve recognition for their oustanding work with the kids are Ms. Hoover, Ms. Paez, and Mrs. Baz-Gonzalez. These teachers love what they do and it shows in how they interact with the students.

I love this school my daugther has been in Joe Hall since kinder garden and must of her teacher had been good unfortunetly because of the boundaries she has to go to Zora Neale witch i am not to happy about. My daugther is upset a nd sad to leave Joe Hall and so i am.I think the should deal with the boundries differently if old students are in the school already they should stay there not pulling them out and taking them to another schoool.I know this is going to affect my daugther in a negative way....When making this kind of desicions they should think about the children.. Mrs H Roman is the best teacher and the new principal is great!

I have my son studying at Joe Hall elementary in fifth grade. He is very fortunate to have Ms.Ana Martin as his fifth grade teacher. She is at the same time a mother, a friend and above all a great teacher to all her students. My son loves her and respects her the same way he loves me and I am very happy to see that. I am sure my son is going to miss her , ( not only him , all the students in her class are going to miss her) next year as they move to Middle school. Mr.Santiago, is also a great teacher . He is a little strict with the kids to keep them on their tasks , but very loving and is trying to prepare the kids for the middle school environment. Ms Valdez is also very loving and works with the kids individually , if they need help.

I love love love this school I am so happy with the teachers that my kids have Ms. Reeser in K is so sweet and kind and very understanding I can't imagine making a first impression of school better than she can and Ms. Paez is awesome pays so much attention to the needs and advancement of her students I love her way of explaining situations and how maybe a bad grade once in a while can just be an off day for the student as long as their average grading is good. I cannot imagine my kids in any other school...the only thin g that bothers me is that the PTA is almost non exsistant seems to be hear of but never seen. Wish I had join back when they started the year I probably could have done alot.

I love Joe Hall Elementary. Mrs. Stern is wonderful and believe she has everything a teacher should have and is a very sweet lady, Mrs. Rivero is excellent too. Mrs. Georgelakis I heard is a great teacher and my daughter has no complains and think she is funny. Over all I love Joe Hall, the principal and assistant principal are lovely people. The personal in afterschool care are really nice and caring. I have to say this because I love music. they have the best music teacher, very dedicated and talented. The play last year was great (AIDA).

I am a mother of two, both of which have attended Joe Hall for the last two years. I am anything but impressed with the school and the administration. While most of the staff I've met is pleasant, it takes a lot more than that to be an A school. The children are not given the accessibility to excel and progress. Also, the school puts too many time constraints in order to get any issues resolved.

I am a mother of two children who one attends Joe Hall and the other one attended two years ago. This school has been a great school because of the teachers that are educated and interested in teaching our children however, there are some teachers that are there to receive a pay check and it is obvious. I have also noticed that the administration gives no importance to the ESE classes, teachers and paraprofessionals. Because my child attends Joe Hall I am well aware of what happens in this school and I can not belive the principal lets this happen to such a great school. The administration needs to open their eyes!!

I love this school. I was really impressed with Ms. Nadler in K. For the past several years my daughter has had excellent teachers which have shown their love for teaching and the kids. I am also impressed with the principal and vice-principal which I always see talking to the kids and showing interest in them. I do wish the school would have more extracurricular activities and a couple of more field trips wouldn't hurt either.

My son attended k-5 and my daughter k-3. I love this school. From the teachers all the way down to the maintenance staff--great. They all form the kind of 'community' it takes to work. The teachers care, the office is very helpful, the after school program is wonderful. I have nothing bad to say about them.

The aademic programs are very good they include chrous, chess and more. The students there are mostly hispanic and very well educated. The sports are alot of fun for the children. The level of parent involvement is very high. The PTA is filled with very nice parents interested in their child's futures. Teachers are always open to have volunteers help them in their classes. The school sometimes has parent supervised parties in which they eat, dance, and talk for up to an hour only on special days such as valentine's day. They are completly free. The gifted program is very good and consists of two teacherss. They learn about Shakespeare and World War 2. I highly recomend this school as a child's first school. They evn get to go to disney in 5th grade!

I love the office staff, principal and assistant principal, however the PTA is non-existant, there are no extracurricular activities and there are not enough field trips during the year. I do not know if it is the school district or the school, but it was almost impossible to work with the children in my daughter's classroom. In my rating of teacher quality, I am comparing to a private school my daughter went to, as I have no other benchmark to use.
