This school has some really awesome teachers ! Both my children have been in Mrs. Showen's class. She is a wonderful teacher. She is very strict, but the children in her class learn and they love her. Mrs. Fajardo is another wonderful teacher. She and Mrs. Showen make a great team.

My child has been attending Dr. Gilbert L. Porter E.S. for 4 years now. I personally feel that the administration has no involvement with the parents or students. The teachers are also lacking the enthusiasm and energy that these students need. Unfortunately, the first year was the best year, and these past three years here at GP continue to get worse.

2009 was an amazing year for my son. To say the least 1st grade for him started out a bit hard...had difficulties with reading but somewhere in between with the help of a great teacher he came out ahead. My son is now reading close to 3rd grade level and he could not have done it without the help of Mrs. Ortega. So thank you Mrs. Ortega!! The school is awesome and the staff and principal are incredible!! Our kids are lucky to have this type of attention...

This year was my son's first yr in school (pre-K) he is autistic but high functional. The teachers and it's staff are absolutely incredible. My son has improved so much on all levels, because of their hard work and dedication.

Hi, I have nothing but good memories from this school. My two boys have gone to GLP and now the little one has graduated from there this year 2009. I will miss this school. The entire staff of this school will always be consider the best for me and my family. I will always come back and visit, with my boys. Love you guys

I love this school. My oldest just graduated 5th. My middle is going into 5th and my 3rd is going into 1st grade. I have been in this school for the past 6 years and have had no problems whatsoever. The teachers care about the children. I give this school an A+++++. My son's have had Mrs. Cartaya, Mrs. Pardo, Ms. Bill, Mrs. Flores, Mrs. Gutierrez, Mrs. Estrada (now Mrs. Robinson), Mrs. Rodriguez, and Mrs Rubio. They are THE BEST!

I love this school. My son just finished kindergarten and it's amazing how much he has learned. Thank you very much to Mrs. Cartaya and Mrs. Pardo for being such great EFL teachers! My son's spanish has improved 100% and his reading is amazing! Thanks to the great staff in the school!

I have to thanks first God for leading me to Gilbert l Porter Elementary and them to the great staff in that school, since my kids start in there, they have change 100% better in all areas, I love this school. Keep it up the good work.

We got a new principal, Mr. Raul Gutierrez, for the school year 2006-2007 and he stayed with us for this school year 2007-2008. I belive he is doing a great job, security, beautification of campus, and the environment between teachers, office and students had improved a lot. The school improvement plan (SIP) is very good and we hope to accomplish the goals and really make of our 'school the best in the Universe'. I am looking forward...

My child is going into the 4th grade in August and joined GP 1.5 years ago. I have to say that the teachers in GP are great. I especially appreciate the way Mrs. Showen teaches, she is lovingly strict and focuses on keeping the kids focused. My child loves going to school. He talks so well about school that my 5 year old can't wait for the vacation to be over in order to attend GP. The PTA staff is great and 'Mr G' as my kid calls him, has made a change for the better. Thank you to all the teachers and staff.

My child has been attending GLP for four years. During this period, they have had three principals. The present principal, Mr. G is fantastic. You see nothing but smiling faces when you go to the school. Please bring take back the after school program for the school so GLP can benefit from the added funds rather than giving them to Hammocks Middle School.

I was unhappy last year with the principal and administration of this school but wow what a change this school has had since the arrival of Mr. Raul Gutierrez, lovingly called 'Mr. G'. A Principal who truly cares for the kids! He goes over and above to make sure everyone is happy and safe. (Like going out with his staff in the blazing sun at 3:00pm dressed in safety patrol vests to direct traffic and make sure unruly drivers stay in check.) Everyone notices the sacrifice and everyone is applauding the effort. The entire school has taken a turn for the better. Children and teachers are happier. Parents are happier. I would not trade this school for any of the best in Miami-Dade County. An Administration that truly cares about the children, what a concept! The PTA girls are awesome too! Thank you God!

My daughter entered the 3rd grade; this was her second year at the school. I was not happy with the administration at all; my daughter had a great teacher. The school principal no involvements with the students, Parents are treated with little respect. The teachers great, administration not good at all.
