The school is Berryhill Elementary in Milton, Florida. The thing that impressed me most was how helpful the staff was that I had a chance to meet and how they seem to take the safety of ALL the children the same for each child. The homework assignments are very organized for the students and helps the parents know what is expected each day. The only concern I have and I have questioned this and received no answer to date - is: "Why does the school system let the children out so early in the day? How will they get the need information to graduate if they do not go to school the entire day as the schools in the surrounding states?" Other than these questions I think the school is very adequate at teaching our children and WE as parents, grandparents and concerned citizens should support the school and the students in every way possible.
The teachers and office staff have been great. My disappointment is the lack of parental involvement. There simply are no ongoing, regular opportunities to volunteer-just the once or twice a year fundraisers. None of my children's classes even had sign up sheets for room parents. Teachers are missing out on valuable help from parents who are left wondering "what can I do to help?". Other schools we've been at had well organized, well advertised opportunities for involvement which created a classroom environment in which parents and teachers knew each other and parents felt welcome. I miss that camaraderie which is a shame because it is the students who benefit from knowing their parents and others see their education as worthwhile.
We moved here specifically for my child to go to this school and I have been pretty disappointed. This school "ain't all that". This is our second year here and I have to agree with the April 2011 reviewer. I have had a similar experience with the main office. It's pretty much a clipped "you're bothering me" response, or I get no answer at all. I was allowed to change my child's bus number after school without even producing identification. I didn't think about it until after I'd left. The lady never even asked my name! The saving grace last year was the teacher. Awesome lady, great communication. This year it's totally different. Teacher will not respond to my notes, much less call me as requested. They don't seem to want me in there, but they sure don't mind asking for money every time I turn around.
is there a kindergarden graduation ceremony at berryhill elementary? if so please please e-mail me the particulars.
I am very disappointed in the staff, I am new to the area and I called to make an appointment to visit but the secretary asked me what my address was and she blew me off. She was unprofessional, as a Parent I know I have the right to choose. There rating maybe high but attitude is 0. Thank You P.S. I called today!
My son is starting 3rd grade this year and he is reading at a 5th - 6th grade level His teachers have been guiding, encouraging, and fantastic I can't say enough wonderful things about Berryhill. I would recommend the school to any parent that wants their child to reach his potential.
The school itself over all is okay. The principal does not allow the envolvement of the parents. The parents are passive, don't want to make waves. The children just go and come home. If there are problem students they are delt with while children who have higher aptitudes have to wait their turn to learn. The teachers can not do the job they want to do. There is no assistance for the teachers or students.
I love this school. Both of my daughters attend. One is in Pre-K and the other is in 1st grade, and they absolutely love it there. The teachers they have had since they started there are the greatest, and I would recomend this school to anyone.
I think that Berryhill is an excellent school. The teachers there are wonderful. We have been there for five years and not once have we had any problems. The parents there do a wonderful job in being active in the school. Great Job to everyone who puts there time into making this an excellent school
Best elementary school in the county! Teachers are the best and the most caring teachers you will ever meet. Mrs. Sulcer, Mrs. Coffey and Mrs. Bostwick made my kids want to go to school and loved all three years they were there.
My son was enrolled into kindergarden a month after school had started. I was very worried about his transition into a new school, but everyone was great! The staff was very welcoming and he got a terrific teacher, Mrs. Smith. The kindergarden curriculm went beyond my expectations. It was exciting to see how much he learned in one year. This is a wonderful school. The only thing I would like to see the school change is all of the Relay for Life fundraising it does. I have no problem supporting this organization but would rather put money toward the school due to the budget problems.
I have 2 children in this school --one that has just finished 5th grade and has been there since kindergarten. I have been extremely happy with the education both have received--and the teachers have been wonderful for the most part. The only thing that I have found to be a little disappointing is that parents have opportunities to volunteer in afterschool extracurricular activities but many of the teachers do not utilize parent help in the classroom during school hours.
My two children have had a wonderful experience at Berryhill thus far. My kids have done exceptionally well in their academics. I love the saxon program that they use for math and phonics. The teachers are nice and professional but yet they aren't afraid to let their hair down and have fun with their students. I couldn't ask for a better start for my children than what we've had at Berryhill.
We love Berryhill! My daughter had to be enrolled half way through her kindergarten year two years ago and it was difficult for her to leave her first teacher, But they made sure that she was made to feel welcome and loved! She is excited to be starting 2nd grade in the fall and for he sister to start Pre-K in two years! She is currently reading on a 3rd-4th grade level and has done nothing but excel there. She looks forward to school everyday and hates to stay home sick. They truly create a positive experience there.
Berryhill is a good school if your child in not an ESE student with any disabilities. Mild or otherwise. I have two children one in ESE and the other is not. The difference in there treatment and accommodations is amazing. This is 2007 they need to get with the program with what they offer children with disabilities. Teachers are great but the ones who teach contained classes for ESE students need more training.
My daughter attended school at Berryhill Elementary for 4 weeks (due to being military and in transition) back in March/April 2006. The school was awesome! She did not want to leave! Mrs. Floyd in 2nd grade was great with her. She learned more in 4 weeks at Berryhill than she had learned the whole year in Louisiana. A wonderful school and would recommend it to anyone even if it is for a short period of time!
Berryhill has been an absolutely excellent school for our children. We had a child attend 4th thru 5th and currently have one in the 4th grade. The school is kept in great condition, and the faculty and staff really go the extra mile to make the kids feel like they are in a learning environment. We absolutely love the school and would highly recommend it with no reservations to anyone considering moving into the school district!
The quality of Berryhill academics is 5 star and there's a positive 'can do' atmosphere about the school that boosts children's confidence. Parental involvement and support is high and teachers and staff that are very caring. We feel lucky our child is in this school!
Berryhill is a good school. We all miss mrs. Bagley. My daughter loves the school. She started in k and is in 3rd grade now. My son went there the last 2 years for the tr jackson pre-k class and loved it. The parents love how they let the pre-k kids be included in the art music computers and pe classes with the berryhill kids. Overall berryhill is great and I would reccommend this school to anyone. We still miss mrs. Bagley though. She was always so cheerful and always seen in the halls greeting the kids everyday morning mid-day and afternoon. She always had a genuine concern for the kids that came from the heart.
