I will admit I was a little hesitant to have to place my daughter at this school, but I was in for a great surprise! I don't know where the renewed interest and determination came in for this school but based on my daughters learned skills throughout the year, I've become a believer. Perhaps it was the new principle, or new teachers there has been a turnaround. I suspect that they will surely be an A school by next year. There were no instances of fighting or bullying--they rule with a (gentle but firm) iron hand. I was involved and participated in numerous outings and classroom functions and was welcomed always to speak with the teachers and check in on my child's progress. I'm really happy with the experience and look forward to an even better year.

I changed my daughter to Fairway thinking that this would be an improvement. I am very disappointed in the office employees and counselors. I learned that the only way to get thru to the office staff and principles, is by being extra tough! I do not recommend this school and regret my decision 100%. However, Mrs. Haxton is a wonderful first grade teacher that was willing to sell her used books to purchase supplies and assist in field trips for her class room.

Fairway Elementary with Ms Hanna was a great school where students, teachers and parents were all treated as though we shared a common goal. The education of our kids. The new principal seems determined to remove motivation from the students, involvment from the parents and desire from the teachers. She closed the campus without notifing us parents and I had tremendous problems picking up my child. She has removed the extracurricular activities that usually do a great job to keep my daughters grades up so she can participate. The teachers are undermined and are not motivated. They regularly volunteered for extra instruction but this year 2007-2008 there have been many cancellations. This prinipal has taken a B school and will make it be a D school. I am very disappointed with her leadership.

Fairway Elementary; This School exceeded my expectation on every level from the level of all the teachers involvement with the students etc. Although there were a few teachers who stood out above all others That was one of the second grade teacher. Ms Camacho it was truely a pleasure for my son being exposed to her at this level of his education when those first few teachers make such a great inpact on wheather a child wold enjoy school or not. So much thanks to you Ms Camacho, there at Fairway Elementary.

The school as a whole seems to be less personal this year than last year. As a parent it concerns me that I am not allowed to visit my student's teaching environment and no contact with the teacher is permitted without a conference. Last school term I had constant contact with the teacher which allowed me to get a daily progress report on my child. This helped me in working with my child as well as it helped my child because she felt there was a personal repor between her mentors which gave her incentive to work harder. This year I have had very little personal contact with her teacher and it has made a difference. The school is very impersonal and it has affected my child. A concerned parent

I kindly agreed that the rate for this school is very poorly, the school's administration and some participant seen to occasionally view children as individual and not as their level of age status . I must say that the nurturing, caring, and understanding when dealing with children is very badly not to mention their attitudes and reaction responds when you asked a simple question. On the rank for the teacher I must go with the pros and cons 'quote'. As a mentioned before this school is mark poorly when, it comes to suit a good education for children. It is more like a high school sort dealing with older kids.

The staff and administration work hard at making this an excellent school. Over the years of FCAT testing, this school progressed from an FCAT grade of 'D' to a present grade of 'B'. Many fantastic teachers at this school; teachers that make the extra effort to ensure your child's success.

Overall I would rate this school poorly. Mainly, because of the school's poor administration, I would have to say that this school has a negative environment and it does not foster the nurturing, caring atmosphere that elementary school children need. On the occassions that I have had to deal with the administraion I have found that they are unwilling to see the children as individuals and treat them accordingly. Instead it seems they have the attitude that because they are adults no matter what's right or wrong their authoritative positions give them the right to talk harshly, or deamean the children. I do like their willingness to allow parents access to the school. In addition to this I must say that my son's teacher attempted to keep her classroom positive and upbeat. However, as I stated I would definitely say this is a poor school.

Fairway has a good spirit and the energy that the principal and assistant generate is admirable. There are a few teachers, like Mr Daub, Mrs Raines, and Miss Boothe who are exemplary in their commitment to the education of the children and produce great results. However, there is a sense of mediocrity that prevails in some critical areas and much more needs to be done to bring this to realizing its full potentials. Undoubtedly, there are lots of talented people associated with this school but it is time to take Fairway to a higher level of excellence.
