I'm currently going to this school. I am in 7th grade. For the new comers of this school, all i have to say is, the school itself is a good school, but just watch out for the effect of the students. You will change, either for the better or for the worse, I don't think I've changed. Even if I did, I think I changed for the better, I became nicer than i usually am, I work harder in school, other than that I never changed. I had a friend I've known since we were 3 years old and ever since 6th grade we rarely talk. If you are coming to Glades, let it change you for the better.. Also, if you want to have the proper friends, look closely. Don't go for the ones who are good looking, just because they are doesn't mean they are nice. Get to know them before actually becoming their friend. Like, ask people for information about them, don't make it sound stalker-ish though. Best of luck to you. The teachers there, I guess some are nice, but others are not, they have their own teaching strategies that actually work. I always did good in school right from the start in elementary school, and once i came to Glades, i started getting straight A's. I hope you enjoy your year in Glades!!
I'm a student in glades middle school 7th grade and it is an awesome school the teachers are awesome some may not be the most how should i put this "enjoyable" but they are alright. If you have read the comment about the choking game dont worry that has been taking care of. In glades you really have to worry about your grades more for the newcomers reading this it is way different than elementary the work and tests but dont worry about your 5th grade teachers being all "in middle school they wont be all nice like we are" you dont have to worry about that till 7th grade like i am in but you still gotta take it seriously it is still pretty hard. One more word of advise is i know some of you arent gonna take me seriously but i personaly dont like the use of curse words so if you do try not to its not a big deal but its just my opinion. GLADES MIDDLE SCHOOL RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am in elementary school in 5th grade and glades is not the place for me. There are too many fights and when i heard about the choking game and i was shocked. I wouldn't recomend it
The school staff are very careful in their help for parents, everybody makes an effort to follow protocols.
I am a student at Glades Middle School and I am in sixth grade. I love it at Glades! The teachers are excellent, and the academic level is wondeful and challenging. We have many events hosted by the PTSA that the whole family can get involved in, such as Dancing with the Staff and the annual Talent Show. We also have many extra-curricular activities that your child may participate in. These activities include soccer teams and basketball teams for boys and girls. May I include our boys basketball team had won the league containing most Broward Schools last year? And that they are going on to the finals this year? Although there are some bad rumors about the school, it is a wonderful learning environment. Just like all other schools, there will be a few "rotten" kids here and there, but the staff handles these situations very appropriately. If you do not believe me, see for yourself. If you are looking for an awesome middle school, Glades is obviosly the way to go!
The only reason why I have not given the 5 stars to Glades is because it has way too many students but that is something that cannot be helped. I have read the reviews and yes, it is true, the school uses the help of the Miramar police, and there are some kids you wish they went to a different school but again these are factors that cannot be helped due to zoning in the case of the non- desirable students and in consequence the help of the police is needed. Teachers at this school are all excellent in spite of the 19/1 student/teacher ratio...multiply that by 6 periods and you will understand what I mean. If the student applies himself, if the parent keeps close contact with the teachers and supervises their child's projects and homework, there is no reason for concern. I am very happy with Glades.
I have a child that attend here and the kids are out of control, the principal can't control them without the help of the miramar police and she uses that threat constantly. The teacher all use the excuse that there are too many kid so they don't have time to notify parents of concerns. The principal gave the teachers the green light to not be accountable for anything by instituting a "student accountability" rule. They do not want involvement from the parents and the school board south are office is wearing rose colored glasses. Don't let the A+ rating fool you they teach for the FCAT after that is over, may as well not even bother.
I have two kids in Glades this year. If you wonder about the school drive them to school and then watch. Please do not let the students who have left posts here sway you into thinking this school is wonderful. If you have a good kid and ou send them there be ready to hear the horror stories. the constant fights, the rowdy disrespectful kids, the constant class disruptions by kids who are only there because the law says they have to. My kid got hurt last week and since it was deemed as an accident no more was done about it. She was knocked down and trampled by 3 kids in her class as they were rushing to get back to their seat to avoid security being called. Admin consequenced the kid who started it all but not the teacher who was supposed to be supervising him while in
well i have to say that glades is amazing school the teachers are great and the student are sooooo nice.its better than other schools so if you want to take your kid to this school you would not regret it. :D
This is a tough age- middle school! There are too many children and in my opinion, not enough supervision, especially in the morning. I refuse to leave my son earlier that 9:15am because fights and mischief happens the most then. I have refused certain field trips because of the massive amount of students. If your a good kid, smart, and not a part of the rowdy crowd, you can pretty much steer clear of trouble. Administration tries its best- and the teachers seem to handle things the best they can- its just a classic case of too many children and not enough adults to go around. The police officer on staff is excellent- Great staff- but the school is too huge!
