My youngest is still in this school and I have to say I am very disappointed in the lack of communication with the administration office. The teachers on the other hand, have been very inspiring this past school year (2010-11). It was a refreshing feel to see new teachers that had been brought on board, working so hard with many of our children. We still have some of the same old issues as in the past- " the kids there have no discipline and the parents just let them run out of control." I have to say if we want to further our children education and better themselves, we as parents also need to put forth much needed effort! I do hope that we have a better administration office who will keep us parents and the teacher more in the loop.

I think as parents we need to put our kids in check, while doing so we will be able to hold the teachers and the administrators accountable for teaching out kids what they need in order to graduate and survive in the world we live in. It has to start at home and then spread. I am a product of this school. I am proud of who I am and would like to see this school excel to the highest. People of Jefferson County lets come together for the sake of the children, for they are the future.

I graduated from Jefferson County High School in 2000. I always kept tabs in on the school, for I had a younger brother that graduated from JCHS in 2006. One thing I will say is that the kids there have no discipline and the parents just let them run out of control. There may be an issue in the system but until the parents take a stand and parent, it doesn't matter if George W. Bush runs that school, the kids are not going to mind and show respect. I was recently at a sports competetion that JCHS participated in. The students were cursing the coaches out and doing what they wanted to do. JCHS once was a area powerhouse!! 5 Time State Champs is what you see as you enter Monticello. Now, their the laughing stock of the state because of undisciplined kids.

I attended Jefferson County High School years ago and decided to return to the county and lend my services. Well upon my arrival, I noticed several things. The teachers didn't have any respect for the students which resulted in the students not having respect for the teachers. It's not that the kids in Jefferson County are not smart, seeing that Deans of colleges, college professors, professional athletes, professional models, Doctors, Lawyers, and etc have come from this very small community, it's the simple fact that the wrong people are in administrative positions. Things normally fall apart at the top and work its way downward. Without good guidance, leadership, and excellent vision, nothing will be able to stand and this can be clearly shown by the decline of the Jefferson County school.
