New Leaf School for Change has been a blessing to our family in so many ways. Our son, Jordan, has been diagnosed with PPD/NOS on the Autism spectrum and before we found New Leaf, we did not have much hope for the future. The public schools were basically just a day care for him and we found a lack of connection and interest there. When we came to New Leaf, that all changed. Jordan is in the 3rd grade and has been there since the later part of his 1st grade year. He is thriving! He is learning not only academics but how to interact with others and how to succeed in life. He is taught in a manner that meets him where he is and asks him to grow and stretch himself. He is happy and healthy because of the environment and the level of care he receives. The teachers and administration all genuinely care for the children there. The sense of family and cooperation is evident on a daily basis. I have never had one bit of trouble with this school or anyone there. I'm so happy we found New Leaf and for the first time in a long time I have HOPE for Jordan's future!

The teachers truly love the children and in a 6 to 1 student teacher ration, they really get to build a relationship with them. It is through that relationship that they do miracles with their focus adn performance. My ADHD child found more than a welcoming classroom, but a family environment to grow in.

This school is the best model for a school specifically created to educate and socialize children with 'Special Needs'. This school fills a highly needed 'niche' in the education system of Duval County. It is a small private school that gently but firmly cares for those students with speciific challanges both socially and academically. The school does not advertise, and parents find this program by word of mouth but it truly fills a serious need in our community. The educator seeks first to establish the trust of the child and then they begin to educate and challenge these students to go far beyond what many thought possible. I am constantly amazed at the level of understanding by these administrators in dealing with these students. The small class ratio allows the educator to customize and individualize the education program for the student.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
