Compared to area schools, RRHS is a good school. There is a marked difference between RRMS and RRHS, but that seems to be so with any high school with regards to the general expectations of students. Our oldest child seems to like her classes and teachers more so than at the beginning of the year, so I attribute that to adjusting as a freshman. There will be flaws in all schools and issues in any big school- that truly cannot be avoided when dealing with hundreds of adolescents. They have a large administration, yet I seem to only see one "spokesperson" visible (assistant principal) at most functions that involve parents. The younger female assistant principal seems to be in above her head and does not appear (when I have observed her) to be the most fitting one for the position. I truly wonder how she got there. Regardless, there are some truly caring people at RRHS and I cannot complain as my child is thriving academically for her level and socially as well.
River Ridge offers Excellent academic programs and AP courses. River Ridge is a Five Star School!
I have Gone to River Ridge since my 6th grade year and i have LOVED it! Im now going into 9th. The teachers are awesome and i have learned so much from them. The choices of classes are endless, and that is a good thing. I would reccomend River Ridge over any other school. And it is also an 'A' school. If you have a choice if what school to attend Choose River Ridge Middle/High School. GO KNIGHTS!!
It's a good school. There are many classes to choose from and I like having that option. Being close to phcc us nice too!!!
My child is thriving at RRHS. The school offers a variety of both academic and extracurricular opportunities. The Engineering Academy is up and running. The principal is dedicated and has set measurable goals for this school with the intent of raising the bar for education.
My school has on of the best built facilities but could use so much more. The academics here are amazing.
I'm very concerned about the education that my daughter is getting in the Pasco Co. school system! We've lived in Florida for 3 years and my daughters academics have gone from being a superior student to average at best. She's just now getting into middle school and I hope that the Teachers at River Ridge will teach her the understanding of the principles of each subject, how they work, etc. instead of just how to pass the FCAT! I know that teachers get commended on the % of students that pass FCAT, but trust me when I say that I would rather have my daughter understand how division and multiplication works vs. how to minimize her choices of multiple choice answers in order to pass a state exam!!! I just heard on the news that Florida is rated 3rd from the bottom on education only ahead of Mississippi and Kentucky! FCAT????
I know this is a parent thing but i go to River Ridge Middle and High School.. The school is wonderful.. Im in 7th grade and i also Take high classes.. The teachers are very nice.. Yes we have flows, but pretty much all schools do.. A lot of students on both sides are in advance classes.. Soo we are intelligent people.
Many teachers are good here, but a few promise the students tests and work and don't hold them to the deadline dates. As a parent of a very active child, keeping project, test, quiz deadlines is extremely import to ensure the students adequately study for each class. When those dates are moved, it causes undue stress for the students as well as the parents helping them to understand the demands that will be put on them when they get into the work force. The teachers need to live up to what they give as a deadline.
I'm new to the school and I feel comepletely all alone, and the teachers didnt do anything to get me with the flow of class, just here your book sit there and learn
