I have a senior this year and a sophmore that attend NHS. I have been very involved with my children's education and have found the administration to appreciate the parents' involvment. Education is acquired by hard work and communication. The responsabilities of the students are to communicate with their educators and work through obsticales. The only obstical I have encountered is the lack of advanced placement classes which causes students to have to give up on a particular weighted schedule because only certain teachers are qualified to teach advance placment classes which limits their availability. The students who are there for an education and not to slide thorough are suffering a bit, but overall the administration tries very hard to rectify the matters with the sorces they have available to them. Funding is always an issue and we should work harder as a community to help them (the schools and districts) rectify the funding issue when we go to the polls on election day. Our overall experience with NHS is Excellent!!! GO PANTERS!

If the students get involved and apply themselves they will be very sucessful at Newberry High School. My children have experienced wonderful, engaging teachers and the administration works dilgently to offer tutoring to all students (whether they want it or not). Any child can find their niche with many current clubs and activites to join. A great school is not just based on a letter grade given by the state. I highly recommend Newberry!

Newberry is a great school! It has a close community and teachers and adminstrators who really do care. I would not choose another school to attend.

I think the extracurricular activities are excellent, the clubs are wonderful, it's a small community, but it will expand and when it does hopefully it'll be a 5a school.

I have a 9th grade student at Newberry and I have to say that it has improved in the last couple of years. Spanish could use a total overhaul! Math seems to be strong as is English. Clubs are very lacking in school, they have them but do nothing with them. This is very sad for a student that came from a larger school. Newberry is small but could be much better with more involvement from all! I for one will be a more active parent next year.

From what my friends have said there isn't too much parental involvement. I know my parents aren't. I'm still a student at Newberry, I'll be going into the tenth grade this year. The extracurricular activities need a serious upgrade. There isn't much... It's kind of pathetic actually. I realized after this year the work is really fly by. Only a lazy or overly stressed person couldn't pass. I think there needs to be a little more one on one in the class room but there are a lot of students in one room so I'm not sure if that can be helped. But I still love Newberry and wouldn't go to another school even with choice. Oh and for parents who have handicap childern this is a great school for your kids. My brother graduated this year, he's handicap and he learned so much.

I'm currently a senior here and I just moved from a WONDERFUL school in TN, and there is no way to compare the two. Newberry High does not offer enough classes that produce well-rounded students. Where's the Fine Arts? There's only band. No television, speech and debate, or a quality drama club. The Spanish classes are a joke. I'm currently in Spanish 3, and I'm using a Spanish 2 book, and have covered the book before. My Chem II class is using the exact same book I used for Hon Chem I at my old school. You must be picking up on the trend now. Drugs and alcohol are everywhere, and most students are a part of that. I feel that my colleagues will have a major reality check when they go to college, as most won't be prepared. The faculty, however, is very supportive!
