My son attended this school and we moved out of state during the summer. I think the teachers are great. They worked very hard with my son this year. Hats off to Ms. Curry, Mrs Shaheed, Ms. Dean and Ms Sams. I wish our new location will have a great school also.
I find this school avoids the difficult task of testing for exceptional students and tries to pass off their responsibility
This is a good school with awesome teachers. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because the parent involvement stinks. There are a very few who do everything, and then the parents who do nothing have the nerve to complain.
I have two children at OCE and the help that parents are allowed to do is very limited. The PTO is not organized at all, the parents don't know when the meetings are because there is no info sent home with the students, the only way to know when the meetings are is if your children are car riders. Approved volunteers are NEVER contacted. This is a real concern for parents that want to be involved in their children's school. The teachers are excellent, but they do need more help in the classroom. With the budget cuts and people getting laid off, I wonder how much of an impact it will be on our teachers and if the principal will actually let more parents volunteer in the classroom to relieve some stress from the teachers.
Ever since the new principal came to this school, it has gone downhill. He no longer allows parents to help in classrooms, which makes more work for teachers and less time for students. It's a shame that he feels that way and I am removing my children from the school as soon as possible. I can't possibly do a worse job in teaching them then what they are getting now!
I have come to see that Ocala Springs is a great school. It's obvious the teacher take a genuine interest in the students. I appreciate all they have been teaching my son the past year. He expresses that he love the school and teachers. So if he's enjoying it and I see he's learning and growing, I'm happy. Thank You to his second grade teacher. And I'm sure 3rd, 4th & 5th will be just as good.
I love this school. I feel my children are very safe there. The school seems to really really care about their students.
OCE is a fantastic school and the teachers there are great. If you wnat your child to learn and advance with love and care then this is the school to send them to.
Ocala Springs Elementary is a great school. I am happy that my daughter is a part of this school. I love that the school offers physical education classes because it helps our children learn at a younger age about physical health which is very important in today's society. I also love the fact that there are art and music classes offered so our children are able to experience different things and it also allows to understand that there are more ways to express yourself. I am very pleased with the education that my daughter receives in every subject offered. The teachers and staff are #1 at Ocala Springs.
I am so pleased with this school. The principal, Mr. Gallimore, is a wonderful caring person. They strive harder each year to increase scoring. (Even though they are already an 'A' school)
