My kids have attended St. John for years; we plan to go all the way through 12th grade. I'm pleased with the education my kids have received (specifically with the importance placed on reading and math skills). The administration and teachers have been very supportive, and I feel like my kids are safe and "loved" at St. John. Truly Christian staff; they practice what they preach. 'Had a brief issue with bullying, and (unlike the poster below), the administration and staff gave their full support to address the problem. St. John is a nice balance of academic rigor and a safe, Christian learning environment. Overall, we're pleased!
This school is a great academically, challenging school with many honors and AP classes. This school is definitley for college-bound students aspiring to make their mark on the world.
Both of my children attended this school and i volunteered on a weekly basis. While initially positive, in the last 1 1/2 years of attendance the leadership was questionable, especially concerning areas of bullying and controlling the environment. My child was the target of violence which was witnessed even by faculty who attempted to speak out. Unfortunately, it would not be dealt with appropriately at all rather downplayed, accusatory & "hushed". The lack of leadership and hypocrisy created by "religious" figureheads who didn't practice what they preached created a negative experience. We would discover the children were behind in several areas (specifically writing) as compared to the local public schools, odd since they were honor roll students at Saint Johns. Later, we learned our difficulties with bullying were not an isolated experience. Very disappointing!
I am a proud St. John parent of two! The faculty and staff are amazing, gifted individuals. I believe they have dedicated their lives to the ministry of serving the families of this school. The faculty are hard working, well prepared, educated, loving and gracious. As I say good-bye to my girls each morning, they bound into the elementary school excited to see not only their classmates, but especially their teachers! Each evening I get the full report of their day complete with all the wonderful things they've learned. I love that my daughters are taught using a variety of teaching methods including cooperative learning, hands-on and traditional methods within the framework of Christ. I know they are being educated beyond the standard of public schools. They are learning crucial problem solving and critical thinking skills, not just being taught to take the FCAT. Worth every penny! We love SJLS!
I really love Saint John and they have great academic and athletic programs! The staff and student body are all great people!
St. John has been amazing! My daughter has graduated from here just this year (2009)! She has had the best teachers and is soo.. well equipped for college - She has been treated like family as has my rising 11th grade daughter. So many opportunities - I cannot even count!
As a parent of three graduates of St. John`s...all I can say is 'I have no regrets'!! A wonderful, Christian enviornment and wonderful staff . All three of my children have had a successful , well balanced life. I thank St. John`s for that!!
I'm a retired teacher volunteering at St. John Lutheran as a creative writing motivator in a second grade classroom. The enthusiastic students are now organizing their stories into chapters! This school is a happy place filled with polite, motivated children. I love it!
I attended St. John from 1st grade through 12th grade and the time I spent there was immeasureably valuable and entertaining. The teachers are always kind and helpful. Bullying and the 'unpopular crowd' are virtually non-existent. The college-bound curriculum was a great leg up at the University of Florida. My high school and middle school teachers had taught me to enjoy scholarship and study on a deep level. My college classmates had to learn this analysis without a learning curve. Most importantly, St. John spreads the loving and important message of Christ, not just through religion class and a weekly chapel service; Christ's presence and peace exudes from the very people who work and play within the school grounds. No other school will ever come close!
As a teacher (19 years here) and a mom (three grads, one of whom began in K-5), I am fully aware of the outstanding dedication of our staff to our kids needs. My three received a stellar , though rigourous, education that more than adequately prepared them for college and life in general. They also received a sound Christian foundation that has carried and supported them into adulthood. The fact we are a small school only adds to our ability to meet the needs of every student. We are a family - the St. John family. How about joining us?
