Students are able to tailor their choices and focus on what they choose, rather than follow a one size fits all, prescripted program. The teachers and staff are easy to talk to and care about all of their students. There are many extra opportunities for students to be involved In the school from clubs to sports to dance, art and drama. You really can have it all!
This is a great school for students with interest in the arts. As a student, I am involved in the chorus and the rock band. We also have power hour, which is where the students have an hour for lunch. This is helpful because students can go get help from their teachers during this time. This school also has a great opportunity for students interested in Dual Enrollment. We have college professors right on campus, so you can still be involved in school activities. We have a lot of students at our school, but it feels like a big family. The teachers and staff at this school are ready to help in any way possible. I am so blessed to call myself a part of the West Port family! WOLF PACK!
Westport is an amazing school they have great programs such as mcca and the student ambassador program which i was part of the school has fantastic school spirit and is a melting pot of different people. i understand this because i have had a ruff time transferring to suwannee high school where there is no motivation for students and the teachers blatantly do not care whether you succeed or not and i do miss westport very much good luck class of 2012
I've been an exchange student in this school, i loved the teachers and the students. I lerned so much in this scholl, and i value the experience that i've got there. I'm so thankful to the teachers and students, that I had such a wonderful year studying in this school. To parents: You can't say that teachers are bad, maybe your kids not studying well enough or they don't do what they suppose to do. Everything matters from us, students, and if you have any problems you need to find the reason in yourself first, only then you can judge your teacher.
Personally, I believe West Port is a great school. It's MCCA program is great and it does its best to give its students the best education. In this area, most students do not take advantage of the chances and slack until they need to have good enough grades in order to graduate. Some teachers are staff slightly rude but the good ones outweigh the bad. Along with MCCA (and honors and Advanced Placement classes for that matter), West Port also has its own Dual Enrollment program where students can be enrolled at West Port AND the College of Central Florida in order for every student eligible to obtain early credits and possibly even graduate with his or her Associates Degree. As long as one is a truly good student and actually follows rules, he or she will have a great time at West Port, educationally and socially.
westport is good school in some ways but some of the teacher that work their are very disrespectful to the students. the school was built for a middle and a high school and now is just a high school which makes it harder for students to get from one side of the school to the next and the teachers do thislock out on the students and write them up for being late. Also this year are just kicking kids out of school for haveing multile absents to school but dont know what is behind the reason and dont care. there are young adults who have a rough life o deal with and just try to do the right thing at least there are still going when they can. I feel as long as they keep their grades up they souldnt just kick them out because they are old enough to be out of school. I know a few students who go to this school ad one is an honor student and when they talk to me about the school its not all good. they tell me about so many fights that start in the lunch room andhow some of the teacher have bad mouths and are rude to them. How would you feel ifthe school your child went to needed four police officers there does that sound safe to you.
Westport is not a good school, They do not help the children or think of them first. The only children they think about are the ones that dont need extra help. Someone really need to look at the big picture because the ones that need more help they dont get it. They wait untill the end of the year to explain what gpa are and they dont go over it. So when the child gets to the end of the year they throw them to the wolfs now I no where they got there name wolfpack from. And that isnt right They say you cant finish your school year with the school they sent you to ctae. I wont put a star on this school at all. But you have to.
Westport is more then just a meccs school. My daughter goes there and takes reading and is doing good. She loves her teachers and all the extra help they give her. She goes in early for extra help and the teachers are there for her. Its beautiful too.
This school is very good. It has a lot to offer a student who is into the arts. I just happen to live in the zoning area for it and then my child benefits from that by being in the MCCA program. The staff has its good and bad points. There are great teachers and one of them is the band director. Thecommunication between the s
This School is one of Ocala's finest. The teachers here are fantastic, it is the first school i have gone to that actually cares about the student. I went to this school for 2 years and not once did a fight break out in the hall way. The other two high schools i attended had one happening every day of the week. Its a safe learning enviroment.
I attend this school. we have the best school spirt and we all love it
They have excellant arts program and their band director is one the best teachers out there.
The MECCA program is great. That is about the only thing. The staff and administrative is a poor excuse and possibly the rudest people I have ever encountered. I had to come get my daughter 5 times because the fact that her jeans had rips in them. They need to be not so worried about petty things. Now some of the teachers are very good teachers, but that few still can't make a difference.
Its a great school. Sure ppl say tht ohh the kids are bad, but if you relle look at it, its the students responsiblitly whetther they stand out or not. The teachers do thier best, some students dont want to excel in life, well let that be there problem. this school has a great MCCA program.
I am not pleased with this school at all. From their administration to their office staff (who, by the way, are the rudest people I have ever encountered in the way of office staff.) West Port's choice in teachers is of poor choice. To be fair, there are a few teachers there that show great quality. But to few to really make a difference. I find it unacceptable that this school can not manage to achieve a better grade than a 'C' for it's yearly school grade and has not made any improvements in it's grade in the past 3 years.
West Port has an Excellent Principal and Adminstrative team. Jayne Ellspermann has did wonders to bringing that school to back up to its prime of leading the state in raising student performance
I am disappointed with the entire system. I do not believe the system is being run appropriately and the student/teacher ratio is out of hand. The area is growing extremely fast and the county is not adding more schools to handle the influx of new students, they are just adding more students per class and throwing up trailer classrooms.
West Port Highschool is an excelent school for people who are interested in the arts. It has a mcca(Marion county Center for the Arts) program which is a magnent program for drama, visual art, computer, chorus, and more. I think that it's a wonderful school where your children can meet other people interested in the same things as them.
I am going into my 4th year here at West Port. I have loved every year of it. West Port is a great school with an excellent Fine Arts program. I attend this school because I am in the Marion County Center for the Arts program. I am taking show choir and photography. The teachers are great and always willing to help the students!
It is a good school. It just started so it needs to get balanced on its feet but other than that I love it and it is a great school.
