I have had all three of my children attend this school, each with thier own special needs. My oldest has SLD and two young children are gifted this school found wonderful ways to allow all of my children to grow and learn that with a little work and dream can and will be obtained.
My child attended this school a year and a half ago. We removed him from our home public school and placed him here. It was wonderful and exactly what he needed after being beaten down confidence wise in our home school. The principal is a remarkable, compassionate woman who really advocated for my child. The 3rd grade teacher was a blessing and the fact that they teach to the student as a whole rather than a focus on being the perfect "A" student as our home school did was very rewarding. My child went from D's and C's in our home school to the honor roll here and it had everything to do with nurturing and instilling confidence. My only wish is that the school had more resources/funding because it could do amazing things! Transportation became an issue or we would have placed our child there again the following school session.
I hate this school !!!! During this year alone , they have taken away Recess (temperarely ), lunch is disgusting, and no security. There also isn't a proper parent pick-up station . If you're one of the students, you have to sit outside in the scorching Florida heat , since there is nocanopy to cover you. Another thing is a terrible Physical Education program. There is no P.E. teacher, so the teachers do it. And usually they just do it if they want to. The good thing in my opinion about MCS is the staff members. Even though it's the smallest school I've ever seen, it is full with big loving teachers.
Marion Charter School is fabulous! The school has fantastic teachers, support staff and a wonderful atmosphere. I am so glad that I brought my child to Marion Charter School.
I enrolled two of my children here last fall. My 9 year old has a chronic illness and they have been absolutely great in dealing with it. The teachers are kind and the administration is wonderful. Marion Charter is terrific!
This is our second year at MCS, and we are loving it! Next year our second child will be starting K at MCS! Small classrooms, the kids are all known and I am not just 'some mom', they know us! I agree with everyone, the PE program rocks! Thus far, our only complaint is for our overachiever the curriculm doesn't give much room for him to advance and still get the little things he may miss if they were to skip him. MCS is a second home for our child and that makes me feel great!
Academics here are average, not challenging enough for my son. The staff is friendly, but often slow with follow through. The PE program is excellent! The art instruction is sparse and sporadic. We need a higher quality school.
My daughter has gone to MCS for 5 years. The staff could not be any more helpful than they are. The only regret we have is that we must find a new school for 6th grade next year. The PE program is second to none also. We will miss the staff.
Quality academics, caring teachers and staff, and an open-door policy. We are very happy with this school.
Sending my children to MCS was the best thing I've ever done for their education! MCS treats each child as an individual and understands how children think. Whether your child struggles or excels, this is the right plae for them to go. Thanks MCS!
