My son has gone to this school for six years. He is in the gifted class and he has done very well. They have an amazing school staff and principal. They offer tutoring for all students regardless of their academic level. The school was recently named the Title I School of the Year in the State of Florida for having closed the achievement gap. Way to Go, SLE! The City of Ocoee should be proud of this small school that was built in 1959.
My son has been going to this school since he was 5. It is the most amazing small community school left in OCPS. The staff work hard to provide instruction, before and after school tutoring, clubs, etc. I love this school. I am so proud of the accomplishments that this Title I "A" School has made.
This is an outstanding school with an awesome staff and lots of opportunities for kids to learn. This is one of the best schools in OCPS.
This is an awesome school. The staff is great.
Both of my children went to Spring Lake. I had a bright child and a hyper child. Both of my children's needs were met. I am proud that my children went to my community school.
My son had gone to this school for 4 yrs and he was known as a problem child he has ADHD and other problems with learning he never got the help he needed in that school or the middle school we have moved out of the state and let me let you my son is exceeding in everything he does here believe it or not he got F's at the FLA school where we are now he's on the A B honor roll what a differance it makes when you take the time to go by the rules of child with an IEP. They could learn from other school's on how to get these kids to pass. The No Child Left Behind didn't work for me in the FLA system. He's in regular classes this year. It was a blessing to us when we moved. Good Luck to all
My son attended the 4th and 5th grade at Spring Lake. He had an excellent education and everyone on the staff helped him to succeed. Spring Lake treated us like family from the very beginning. The teachers and staff are professional and caring. Dr. Osborne and Mr. Balabas worked hard to solve any problems my son encountered . They took the time to care and that is what makes Spring Lake so special.
As a child who went to this school myself and have 3 children who went K-5. I believe that the disciplinary measures are unconventional and the dean and principal would much rather get 'rid of the problem' than resolve the issues. I have met wonderful teachers over the years but some are just plain lazy, those are the disturbing ones. The staff have kept a 'small town' attitude instead of broadening the scope.
My son is a student at Spring Lake Elementary. This has been our first year at this school and he loves it. My son tells me it feels like a family to him. The teachers and staff truly care and do their best to make sure each and every student is a success. Unlike a lot of schools, the principal is involved with the children as well. She has an open door policy and is always willing to listen to any concern that a parent might have. I am sad to say that my son only has one year left at Spring Lake Elementary. But, I will say they have prepared him to do his best no matter where he may go.
My child was also being bullied and nothing even said about it. I have to push the issue to get a response. The school overall is an unsafe environment and I can't wait to move!
