I have two kids who attend Northglade Montessori Magnet School and have flourished in every way since they began attending. Northglade is revolutionary because it offers a Montessori quality education to an at-risk population. Northglade's Montessori approach fosters each student's natural curiosity and passion for learning because it is grounded in student-directed discovery and exploration. The Northglade Montessori theory is holistic: It addresses the student's entire person, rather than just the academic aspect. Northglade students are not just studying traditional subject areas, but they are also learning responsibility, manners, grace, and courtesy. Northglade students learn how to make proper introductions, look people in the eyes during a conversation, and set their places at the table. Northglade students learn to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts peacefully. These skills are not generally taught in traditional schools, but are invaluable tools that will benefit Northglade students as they build their lives and careers. We love Northglade!

People who know about this school call it a hidden gem. This place is way way different from other schools in the area. There are some great teachers here, and the administration and office staff are great too. They really try to make school an enriching, community experience. The kids actually go on field trips. My kindergartener is going to see a $22/ticket professional play in Miami Shores on Friday, for free! They received a grant to get samples of fresh fruits and veges three times a week so that the kids can try different things. The students are mostly really well behaved; I have even heard a couple of "Yes Ma'ams!" The principal himself is very visible and accessible and easy to talk to. You see him interacting with the kids all the time. He even personally tutors groups of kid before FCAT. Because it is a small school they are quick to respond to things. If you know anything about the school system these days, you know it's a mess, but this is one school that is really trying to keep its priorities straight. My daughter is in Kindergarten this year and I am really happy with the experience. Oh, and on top of all that they're an "A" school.

I have been very pleased with North Glade. My child is excelling in Math and Reading, 2 subjects which he was lagging in before entering the school. The teachers, and staff are all very dedicated to teaching and fostering a well-rounded education.
