My child will be attending another school for his 3rd grade. His first 2 years at this school were challenging.Remember these names--Ms. Guitan and Ms. Anderson, absolutely the best teachers you could ask for. I believe you rate the teacher and not the school or area its in. My child has progressed so much because of these teachers. It is a very diverse area but that should be a good thing for the kids.If not for changes,my child would still be going there for the 3rd grade. I think the school is just fine from what ive seen

Shingle Creek has grown over the past few years to provide many afterschool activities for students. They have free tutoring available, grades 3-5 can be involved in afterschool physical and arts activities, and with more parent involvement perhaps other afterschool events can be arranged. The school provides every learning opportunity available to every student. The staff is comprised of teachers who are constantly learning new and current research and strategies to apply in the classrooms. The students have books, technology, and class room resources available to them. While parent involvement could be improved and more support would benefit the school, the parents who are involved are wonderful role models for the community.

Shingle Creek is a culturally diverse, close knit, neighborhood school. Although the parents care about their child's grades, most I have known do not attend school meetings and keep up with their child's reading and other homework assignments. Many parents do not seem to involve themselves in any aspect of their children's school, such as Additions volunteer, joining PTA, or SAC committees. I find that teachers and staff care and work together to improve student academics and social skills, and to ensure safety of students. In fact, administrators, teachers, and staff go out of their way for the benefit of the children in many extra ways even on their own time to improve the learning environment at the school, provide enrichment activities, and help troubled students learn social skills and boost their self-esteem.

my 2 children attend this school one positive thing I can add is I have great teachers both last year and this year, they work with me on what my children need improvement on, because I make myself involved in their learning at school. Now on the other hand, the school is unorganized and underbudgeted, from schools that I have known about. They for one are behind in the learning aspect of academics compared to other states, Florida schools in general are behind, but there is no parent involvement from what I see. The extracricular activities for children I do not see. There are no sports teams, the choir and orchestra are ok, but there is no arts program, there. School is supposed to be a learning place but also a place for children to express themselves and have fun, i see no holiday programs, no celebrating black history month.

At all costs, avoid this school. I can not stess enough the emotional damage that was done to my son at the hands of teachers and administrators at this school. Despite several attempts to rectify the situation, everyone at this school was unable to work with me or my son. I changed my son's school and now he is doing great academically, but it will take years to recover from the mental scars he received at this school.

Level of parent involvement is fair. There are frequent opportunities for parents. Quality of academic programs is good. Teachers, Administrators, and staff are good to the students and seem to know them and care.

The teaching is not consistant. Teachers do not notify you if they have any problems. The administration tends not to listen to a parents concerns.

Shingle creek is a very diverse school culturally it is from a working class neighborhood of two income families. It does not always have as much parental support as it needs. There are a good number of students for whom english is not their first language, their test scores reflect this.Over all it is a safe enviroment for students but a parent would need to be very involved in pushing the studies past the basics.

This school has proved to me that they do not care about the children nor parents at this school. I would not recommend this school to anyone and as soon as I can move out of there school zone the better.
