Its a great school the teachers are helpful its just the students but if you want to learn the teachers are there to help you. I know this because I graduated in the top 20 percent of my class in 2007.
i have only been at oak ridge for one year and to tell you the truth i had a lot fun...at first i was scared to see what the school was like because of what every one says. But i soon found out that what eeryone says is so wrong. the teachers are great and i learned so much. I'm very glad to have attended oak ridge and can't wait for the next year to start.
I spent my 4 years at Oak Ridge and those are the most memorable years of my life. I had so many great teachers who prepared me well for college. Don't blame solely the school for your children's poor performance, consider your responsibility in your kids' education. Don't assume that once the kids hop on the yellow bus, their learning is no longer yours to concern. I made the effort to learn at Oak Ridge and my parents made the effort to help me at home. Now I am only a few months away from graduating from Pharmacy school, I thank Oak Ridge for taking part in setting a strong foundation to support my ladder to success.
My son just transfered from an A school and he has never been happier. He likes the other kids and says that the teachers are so much better than the A school. They answer his questions and they don't make him feel dumb. When he does well they acknowledge this to him. It is a much more relaxed environment, he is not stressed out all the time. He loves it. I wish the State would provide funding to fix it up and make it look nice. My son wishes he had transfered to the school 3 years ago.
this is a good school who is aiming for improvement
My biggest concern with Oak Ridge there seems to be a lack of concern by the guidance employees. They do not return calls and are at times aloaf to the students and parents. The school is not bad, it has a good student to teacher ratio, just more attention by guidance is needed.
This school is getting better every year. There is a lot of diversity and adversity in this school. I am proud of their accomplishments and I don't believe that the student's futures are bleak at all. If the people who critique the school were actually in the classroom they would see the development and progress. The parents and students come from different countries so of course, the learning and curriculum will have to be different to accommodate the students. This school talks to its students and adjust to their needs. Where do you find teachers that care anymore? At Oak Ridge. em
This may not be the fanciest school on earth but there is this special pride you feel everyday. Its something extraordinary. Ive been to many schools and Oak Ridge has the best atmosphere. I mean sure parents need to put some more effort on encouring and supporting students. But we've come a long way. Academically we have improved and in FCAT as well. And we have alot of talented athletes in the school.
This school is a very poor school.I'm a student there and I cant believe the financial problem they have.
Oak Ridge continues to struggle despite the odds. Teachers have to literally fund their own classrooms. The music program is growing and doing well. Both band and chorus have been to Atlanta and won top honors. Academics are a strong focus. Teachers are well prepared, however the emphasis here must be that parents need to be more involved in their student's endeavors. Students are given tremendous opportunities to learn. Tutoring is available, however few take advantage of that situation. Sports is very well supported all around. The accomplishments of the track team continues to put Oak Ridge on the map. There are many who would love to see a huge change at Oak Ridge. The community needs to get more involved in the programs on board. Students will thrive here only if they apply themselves. As with any other school, students have to make good choices.
