Brookshire is a wonderful neighborhood school filled with a loving, caring staff and a fantastic group of involved families. The small size, individual student attention and great teachers, give it a private school feel without the price tag!

My daughter attended Kindergarten with Mrs. Maguire. I could not have asked for a better teacher with her positive fun attitude. I felt better knowing my daughter would be greated everyday with a her smile. My daughter still misses being in her class. Dr Rummler is a great principle keeping everyone update to date with the latest information with letters, emails and the ocps phone line. With my busy M-F work schedule, this helped out a lot. There is a lot of parent participation with this school and it made a huge difference with all the children who attends Brookshire. I would highly recommend this school to anyone with younger children.

Brookshire Elementary is an absolutely fantastic school! Dr. Rummler, the new principal, makes himself available to parents and students and is always involved in Brookshire's activities. The school is in a great location with nice homes and a very peaceful environment. Parents are very involved in their children's education there. We are thinking of moving and this school is one thing that will keep me here. My son loves it. It will be hard to find another school like it.

Although Brookshire Elementary School may look tired on the outside, the magic lies within the fabulous dedicated teachers and fantastic involved families which come together to make Brookshire an exceptional place for young minds to grow.

I have been pleased with Brookshire, even keeping my child there instead of private school. That was my opinion through 2008. I don't know what has happened in 08/09 year but my child's learning decreased. It could be a reflection on the leadership of the new principal or the distractions from the budget fiasco. Either way, the 09 year at Brookshire was less than par.

Very happy with the school. Parents and teachers are very involved. I have had no trouble at all communicating with teachers or administrarion. Really like how all kids are grouped according to ability. I was impressed with the gifted program when my third grader was required to complete an independent research assignment-complete with power point presentation. Now, if only we could get a brand new building!

I heard great things about this school, but totally disappointed. This is nothing more than a mediocre school. I agree with one of teh parent about teh teachers and administration. In my experience they were quite uncooperative. If you have a child who is above avergae, do not bother to send him or her here.

Brookshire USED to be a great school, but I know of several parents that have pulled their kids out and I am considering doing the same thing. The new principal, Mr. Moore, is judgmental and unmoving. The teachers rarely follow exceptional student guidelines. Many are preferential to 'good' students and let the slower students fall behind and fail. If it were not for the few excellent teachers left at the school and parental involvement, Brookshire would fail, as well.

Excellent teachers and staff. The student to teacher ratio can't be beat. Brookshire was #1 in the county for Reading scores. They earned 100 points more than the requirement to be an 'A' school. They recieved a 'B' rating because the gains for the lowest 25% need improvement. They are making concentrated efforts to assist these students, and to regain the 'A' rating that they have had up to this point. Brookshire was ranked 19th (out of 200) in Orange County. We moved to the neighborhood 2 years ago, and we love it. The P.E. teacher has brought in great programs like bike safety, yoga, and swimming. Winter Park school children and families have access to a counseling program called 'Chill' that assists with any transition or difficulty.

This is truly a great school! The teachers are all wonderful, the parent support is strong and the leadership is outstanding. No wonder my kids love Brookshire!

It is easy to say a school is wonderful when you have an academic loving child. I have the opposite with my youngest child. He was falling behind and in 3rd grade failed the FCAT. I took him to Huntington for an evaluation. He was reading at first grade level. After 4 months (6 hours a week)at Huntington, he was reading at 4th grade level and had confidence in himself. He felt like an outcast at Brookshire because he wasn't an easy student for learning by the way they teach. The teachers are dedicated and hard working, but only teach one way and that doesn't work for all students. They do not seem open to ideas, and have a very obvious preference for the easy students.

Brookshire is a decent school, although it does not live up to the good reputation that it seems to have. The administration and teachers are not at all open to suggestions from parents, can be quite uncooperative, and have an attitiude of 'if you don't like it, too bad.' The P.E. program is a complete joke and music and art aren't much better. Children can get a mediocre education here, but I don't see how that justifies the 'A' grade that the school continues to recieve.

I have one child attending Brookshire Elementary. Overall, I am fairly pleased with my experiences. There is a lot of parental involvement. The PTA is very active, so that's a great thing. Its also been my experience that the teachers welcome parental input, support, and questions. The extracurriculars are all there. Every week, the students have art, music, and PE. They also have clubs which meet before and/or after school for things like swimming, jump rope, yoga, etc. The only thing I believe the school is lacking is diversity. I'm hoping to move my daughter to a place where she's exposed to a more diverse population.
