My daughters first year in elementary school is going great! Every one from the principal to the teacher and all employees are great in assisting us in her transition!! When you ask questions or seek help they are here right away like a second family.. The focus is education and education! One of the best!

Front office staff is just awful! they never seem to know what is going on,they NEVER smile, the school principle seeems to change every year. It really seems to get worse as the years go on. About 50% of the teachers are just about the best you can get, while the other half should not be teaching at all, just plain out rude.

The teachers here are the best. They will go out of their way and spend extra time to make sure your child has what they need. I also love the school is small and many of the teachers know the children from different classes. Ms. Boyd, the gifted teacher, loves what she does and it shows! Out of the 3 gifted teachers my daughter has had, she is by far the best! The only downfall is the front office staff, they always seem miserable and are not all that helpful. Besides that the school is great!

What a terrific school. The teachers and staff work well as a team. I couldn't ask for a better teacher for my son. The Principal is involved and always knows what is going on. The only knock is the lack of parental involvement. We need more parents to be personally involved in the school.

I just had to post another review of this school. My daughter just finished 1st grade with one of the best teachers ever, Mrs. Vilabrera. She is 100% focused on the kids in her class, and she pushes them to be the best they can be. My daughter is on a more advanced level in most areas because of the teaching style of Mrs.V. It is ashame she won't be teaching 2nd grade, but if we are lucky our daughter will have her in third grade. Parental envolvment is always high, as there are many opportunities for parents to be involved in the school. We couldn't ask for a better education for our daughter and we are looking forward to next year. Sabrina

Very good school, they offer tutoring in reading which really helped my kids a lot. Teachers are very professional and you can tell they love what they do. Special holiday activities are great, a lot of involvement of parents, teachers and staff. Very organized.

I would like everyone to know that winegard has, in my opinion, two of the best kindergarden teachers in orange county. miss Hoyas and miss Marrero. Both teachers show a real concern for their students and really make then feel confortable around them.My favorite is miss Marrero. She not only show concern for her student, she also care about the parents well being as well and that to me is awsome. Keep up the good work miss Hoyas and Miss Marrero. it's teachers like you that make kids want to come to school and learn something new.

A truly involved parent spends enough time at the school and in communication with the teachers and school staff that he or she does not need to be told what is happening at the school as you are already 'in the know'. As for the administration...they are both easily accessable as well as approachable, have you made an effort? This is a good school with a hardworking staff.

This school dosen't have any comunication at all!You don't hear about anything going on at the school till the last minute. How can a parent be involved if they can't be prepared in advance to get time to help. This is very important for an involved parent. We haven't been able to help once because we have yet to get the proper notice! Also the teachers even complain openly about poor comunication from the principal! This principal dosen't even acknowledge the parents around the school when she sees them nor does the vice principal.Very poor personal skills.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science, and in grades 4, 8, and 10 in writing. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
