Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My child was BULLIED in this school by the TEACHERS. He was suspended for ridiculous "reasons" for longer and longer, and longer periods. Example: suspended for two days for having an unhealthy snack!!!! - by mrs. terlecky, - just to give you an idea. I contacted a principal a couple times , got put downs as response. They would support each other very well. Finally, I filed a complaint with the West Learning Community and transferred my child to another school. I have a very strong reason to believe that the picture would be different IF my pockets were deeper.

We were at private school for pre k and k and have now been at Windy Ridge for four years now. The teachers, staff and the wonderful PTA are welcoming and very professional. I feel like my children are challenged everyday at school to not only be a better student but also a better citizen. The quality of the education is comparable with most local private schools. I know my children will be well prepared for high school when they graduate from 8th grade. The PTA is a great group of dedicated mothers who care deeply about this school. We are so happy to be a part of this great 'A' rated school in Orange County.

I am sad to say that we had to leave WR because we moved. What a difference!! I truly appreciate the staff, admin and front office at WR now. They are the best. My son's new school is horrible. I miss the smiles that I used to get when I walked into the front office at WR. I miss the dedicated teaching staff and the wonderful PTA. Be thankful for what you have over there. The grass is not greener any place else. And by the way I love the new garden in front of school. What a welcoming addition when I went in the other day to pick up something. Beautiful

My child attends this school and I love it. 92 kids in his grade (the middle school maintains less than 300) and 81 of the kids made honor roll this year. Most of the kids really WANT to be there and care about their education, as do their parents. It has a beautiful, modern and clean campus. The teachers are the best you can find in Orange County. It's like a private school. I just can't say enough good things about it.

I am a student at this school and for one of the most part enjoy it i can easily say that this school is better then my previous one in many if not all aspects such as the staff, teachers, even the energy of the very building is a great thing, i like it here as of everything is flawless except for a single thing i have a problem with that being the other children as of there exclusion to many other kids including myself as always i have given thought that they do not know how to make a good greeting to smart -minded kids, making me among many others lonely and the last thing being that they will not stop ''showing off '' is another nerve striker for me by most behalf. other then that this is by far the best school i have been in and would have to be the most bright school i have been to.

My daughter has been in this school since the last 4 years and we love the school. The teachers are great and the parent involvement keeps enhancing the quality of learning. There are many programs which are unique to this school, even though there are many good schools in the Dr. Phillips School district. Whenever I visit the school, I see the Principal out and about....she is very active during the school hours. Great school, with tight knit community!

I love this school, my daughter is in second grade and she is very smart but lazy, so her grades don't show her abilities but all the teachers that she has had since KG have been very helpfull and worked with me on getting her more interested on doing her work at school and even making special charts and prizes for her, I really like this because it shows how much the teachers care about their students and how they go out of they way to help children with different issues, I know they get a lot of homework and academicly is very demanding but I think that is great, this forces the students to do their best, I'm glad I choose this school for my kids I would recomend it to anybody who wants their kids to excell.

I am a student at this school. I like my teachers but some things have happened this year in 5th grade. Cheating on the AR to go on the Seaworld trip, girls running around in bras on the camping trip and going to the boys side of the camp and bullying. I've heard that the teachers have told the kids involved to deny anything or else the principle will take the trips away and maybe the 5th grade dance. These kids should be in trouble for this bad behavior and the principle should not take these trips and dance away because of a few kids. That's just what I think.

There has definitely been a change with the front office staff since the beginning of this school year. I will agree that a select few were not very friendly but that does seemed to have changed and I AM a parent who is at the school regularly. No question that the teachers are great. Certain administrators are visible and accessible, others are not which can be frustrating to parents who have a valid concern or child issue. Windy Ridge is one of the best schools in OC but not the in the state let alone the country.

The person who doesn't like the front office staff has obviously not spent enough time at the school. These ladies and gentleman are the best. They are truly dedicated to their jobs. They are more than willing to step in to cover everyone else's area and do whatever needs to be done to make WR the great school that it is. They love the kids are are dedicated to their safety and well being. They have a smile for everyone. They have a tough job dealing with some tough parents. The ones that don't follow the rules are the ones that give them a hard time. Front office, admin, nurse and teachers rock at WR!!!!

Windy Ridge is a great school. The teachers , admistrators and support staff are 100% student motivated. Windy Ridge has a large and diverse student population. We have a wonderful parent community that support our school with their time, talent, and dedication to education. Watch our SilverHawks continue to soar.

Windy Ridge is an awesome school. I have found that this school has high expectations for academics and behavior which I appreciate. The teachers are awesome. This allows my child to get an excellent education. The PTA holds many functions that allow for parent involvement and family fun such as the Spring Carnival, Donuts for Dads, Movie Night etc. The Middle School is great for a child who is high achieving and would do best in a small environment.

Windy Ridge is by far one of the best schools in Orlando. The teachers are totally commited. My children excell while there. There is one catch, though: do not expect a friendly front desk! The entire school would certainly benefit if the front desk had someone that could treat people equally with the respect everyone deserves. School is a 10, front desk is a zero!

I used to love Windy Ridge School, but this last year the atmosphere and the leadership changed so much that even some teachers have moved to other school because of our new administration leadership and all the restrictions in how to teach. Who are they kidding by saying the school is going green, when all the parents have to pay for all the printing at home not knowing what needs to be printed. I hope someone in administration is reading this. And I can't wait for FCAT results to be out just to see how much this new administration has affected our "A" school. Since we do not have the Five Star this year!

I hope not everyone has my feelings about Windy Ridge -Not happy with administration; Principal is fake! Very negative, blame pickers, my child is going private next year. I'm sorry I ever moved into this area!

Windy Ridge is a very academic driven school. Our son has been attending since Kindergarten to now second grade and he does really well in all subjects. There is more homework than other schools; it can be challenging as our son is very involved with outside athletic activities. However, the results are here ... he knows that hard work is rewarded - and we feel that it is never too early to teach kids this concept. The staff is pleasant and encouraging. Bad behaviors are not tolerated and will be corrected efficiently with the kelso technique, which reeinforces proper manners. Our son loves his school, and we appreciate each and every staff there for their dedication to the kids.

We moved from Atlanta to Orlando in March 2005 and had the good luck to find Windy Ridge for our daughter she has had the opportunity of continuing the Challenge Program she had in Georgia. Windy Ridge moved her two years ahead in Mathematics and one in Science she loves her school and its amazing Symphonic Band.

School is zoned in mainly affluent neighborhoods that consists of many SAHM's who have the ability to keep up with the high acedemic demands of the school. If you're a single parent and/or if your child is average to below-average acedemically by median standards, you'll find it difficult to keep up.

It is a great school if your student is an average to high average student. However, if your student is falling behind, they are quick to push ESE services. They are not very fair to the minority and underprivileged students who do not bring as much as the well to do students. However, the staff is nice.

WR is a great school. Staff is extremely friendly, courteous and polite from the moment you walk through the door and are greeted by the two ladies in the front office. They truly care about the kids and it shows in every aspect. The education couldn't be better. I have been there for 12 years and am sad to say that my last son is leaving to go on to middle school. I will miss WR.

Both of my daughters have attended Windy Ridge from Elementary through Middle School Magnet program and it has been a most wonderful experience for our family. The education is excellent with high levels of parent involvement especially through middle school and preparation for high school. Absence of their own sports facility has made physical education a challenge through the years but WR has offered satisfying alternatives with practice / games @ nearby schools. I recommend Windy Ridge for its overall smaller school and class size, excellent principal and teachers, fantastic preparation for high school through its middle school magnet program (!!), great communication between staff and parents and give this school an overall ***** rating. Thank You Windy Ridge for 9 great years, my kids will and do miss their time with you.

So far this year has not been a positive experience for us. We have found that some of the new teachers brought in by the principal are not what we would want for our students. Teachers are sarcastic towards students. As far as specialist classes, the school is on an 8 day roating schedule, so the students only meet with Science Lab, Computer, Math Lab, Art, Music, and Spanish once in 8 days, which in the course of a year is not enough. I hope the year improves for us and many students and parents.

My child is now in second grade at Windy Ridge and has been attending since Kindergarten. The school has just under went a drastic change and yes, it is slightly difficult to navigate but that is why they provide maps. I think the construction was and is the best thing for the school. Cold staff? I have never encountered anyone cold at this school. My son has a wonderful teacher this year and he is doing great! Every school will have their fair share of problems, no one can expect perfection in a world full of imperfections.

This school is dificult to navigate, principal has washed her hands of the middle school therefore a certain lack of order and civility exits. Children are labeled in a negitive light which has proved to be hard to change. Education is focused with smaller than ususal classes. The new building is is long overdue and promises to provide updated technology, advanced communications and a new Phsyical Education ficility. Think twice about this one- Staff is cold. Little effort to meet the young mans learning styles needs for hands on interaction. Running and expression styles are thwarted when could be directed to grow with those whom learn at a higher level than average student. Disappointing choice for so many formative years of training.

Outstanding! Small class sizes. Admission is lottery based but it is well worth applying in January for the lottery. No more than 300 students in the middle school. Caring teachers and great academic challenge. Both my children attended and we are thrilled. Parents are involved and welcome. Windy Ridge School is an awesome place.

The faculty of Amity Intermediate Center is very concerned about the education of the children that attend the school. The school provides an after school homework help program that has help my child tremendously. The school realizes we need to recognize positive academic and social behaviors. Students are recognized monthly for different character traits, for example: Responsibility, Respect, Citizenship, or Caring. Students are recognized on their birthday. The student council recognizes students and staff for their Random Acts of Kindness.
