My children have been in John Young Elementary School and I volunteer there as much as my schedule permits me. The teachers there are great even though they may have some difficult students. John Young Elementary have an Additions Program that allow parents sign up and it gives them the opportunity to volunteer at the school. They can volunteer at the clinic or any classroom they are comfortable in. I help out 3 different teachers and the clinic as well. I believe as a parent that this is a great opportunity to get involved in our child's or childrens' life. This helps us see what they need help in so we can expand that help at home with them.
Although John Young Elementary is rated highly for a public school, the education which our child is receiving, was neither harmful nor exemplary; it was simply average. There were no particular activities or sports that stood out as being high-level. Fortunately, our child has an excellent teacher who had been teaching for a number of years. She manages the class well and is an above average teacher. We had a few interactions with the administration but I would expect more from a Principal. The school seemed to be well run, but there was not an evident leadership presence. The overall experience for both our child and us was 'average'. PS: A/C was always broken at her classroom last year.
i love the school, the teacher specially Ms King and Ms Tierney are the best, very happy mom and my child is blessed to be able to attend John Young Elemantary
J.Y.E is a grade A school and has been for many years. Being a parent of three, who have all attended this school, I could not be more pleased with the teachers and faculty. The staff is always prompt in assisting with any concerns and are eager with helping academically. My children have excelled in all areas of life and we are sad to be moving. The school is well diversified and has a budding music program. Though there aren't any sports offered, there are many offered through out the community.
High level of parental involvement is encouraged at John Young. Two great music teachers and a creative art teacher.

The teachers at JYE are excellent. Academically the student's learn well and are well prepared for FCAT. Music and Art are held once every 7 days and PE is held 3 times every 7 days. Parent involvement is different for each classroom. Some classrooms may have a parent volunteer each day while another classroom may not have any. Extracurriuclar activites include: extended day, and chorus.
John Young has some of the greatest teachers in the country. There is lots of enthusiasm and compassion among their teaching staff!!
I love JYE! I have been a parent at the school for the past 6 years. My soon is already a middle school student but my daughter has the fortune to be now at JYE and enjoy the learning and legacy of good and lasting friendships, and to become a succesful student like my son. From my own personal experience, I have found how wonderfuil is to work with teachers and parents that think on the same level of interest when it comes to the wellfare of the students. JYE is a big family that welcomes you to grow and change for the best.
I have two wonderful children that attend John Young Elementary School and the only thing that I have to say is that I am very proud my kids are part of that community. The Principal, Assistant, the office staff, the extended day staff and the teachers are just great. They really care about the children, their safety and education and that is the most important thing for us being a parents. John Young Elementary is excellent and we as a parents need to keep supporting this wonderful school.
We have two very important investments to make in our children, their education and their well being. John Young Elementary, and its wonderful staff make both of these investments possible. We are fortune to have our children belong to such a wonderful community!
I have two children in this school and I love it, even though this is the begining of the school year I can feel that the teachers and staff there really cares about the children, and thats the most important thing for me being a parent. Comming here fron Richmond VA I was not aware that there was not transpotation for the school here so that took some getting use to but everything worked out great I'm glad to have my children apart of the 2003-2004 school year
I currently have two wonderful children that attend John Young Elementary. My son has attended John Young since kindergarten and will now enter 5th grade for the 2003-2004 school term. My daughter was fortunate enough to have attended John Young for Pre-K and will now enter 1st grade for the 2003-2004 school term. I am a very strong supporter of this school and the staff. I truly believe you get out of a school what you help put into it. The principal and assistant are great administrators that lead by example. They attend all SAC meetings as well as special assembly programs after school. All of the teachers that my children have had were always helpful and showed a genuine interest in educating them. I could not imagine sending my children to any other elementary school. In my opinion, John Young is an extraordinary school and it encourages me to be a better parent because I know it expects nothing but the best from our best.
