In searching for schools like Morning Star it would be really helpful if the Director of the school would respond to the bad reviews. There was one response dated May 15, 2012 but for the sake and future of the school it would be nice as a parent on the outside looking in for a good school for my son to hear rebuttal. I'm all ready to sign up but these reviews are discouraging only from the standpoint that I'm coming from another online Christian school (Western Christian Academy). They have been horrible with the on call teacher. I want a dependable school that does their job so that my child can do theirs.
The only problem I have with this school is the billing. What a nightmare! Had to extend my son for the summer, paid for the previous grade in full and 300.00 for the extension. My son could not log in to the summer extension. Was told because I had not paid for the next grade yet. After a very long and stressful phone call FINALLY they granted him access to the summer program after I stated I was taking it to the AG's office. Paid in full for something and he was denied it for a grade he had not even started yet. I gave MSA a three star because my son has enjoyed the teachers. It is the office and billing I have a problem with it is like the left hand has no idea what right hand is doing. Maybe if they stop letting the computers think for them and start dealing with people they would get better ratings.

Awful, I would never recommend this school to any parent willing to put their child into online schooling. I am currently enrolled as a senior in this schooling and as a first hand account would tell every parent thinking about putting their children into this school to stop what they're doing, and consider, do you really want your child to have an education through traditional schooling, or do you want to waste your child's time and effort only to be told later that they're just going to need another class to go a long with that they did. In all I would say this is by far the worst curriculum I have ever had to bare. I got one month away from graduating and then was told that i can not graduate until I have done a physical education and health class, both of which I have already taken. Their reasoning behind not counting my physical education and health credits is because they were not taken in the same year. This schooling has in all honestly totally ruined my senior year, please do not support this school in any way if you value your child's education.
Currently I am a student at Morningstar Academy and I hate it. This is my first year homeschooling and I am having a dreadful experience. The teachers are rude and they dont really want to help you at times and others are very helpful. Also, their curriculum is outdated. Dont waste your time and money on this.
I attend this school and I'm not very pleased. The teachers are very rude and give me wrong answers when they are actually right. Also they changed the deadline from June 30th to June 19th without any notice at all. I don't reccomend this school to anyone and I prefer regular homeschooling. It takes up to an hour to get someone[if you're lucky]. And it is a waste of the $2,000 dollar tuition fee. I don't expect to return next year.
I am a graduate of Morningstar Academy and I cannot stress enough what an awful experience it has been. We spoke over the phone with people about what classes I needed to take my senior year and based my schedule around that. In May (the month I was to graduate) I was informed that I needed to take a U.S. History class. This gave me six weeks to complete an entire year's worth of material. To make it worse, I never received a copy of my diploma because they wouldn't accept my certificate of personal training from ACE as physical education. As far as them being accredited, make sure they are in your state, as they are not in Georgia. I found out the hard way. Please don't waste your time at this school because it has caused much more stress than it is worth.
Excellent program. Everythng is online. Receive great feedback from the teachers. Only had one issue last year, we didn't receive all the materials but we were not charged for them. Teachers are responsive when I ask questions. Students get to form their own opinion about the materials they are learning about.
Keep looking. They are rude, won't listen and will not respond to even the most basic request. Don't give them credit card access. They will make every excuse for their incompetence. Their program is cumbersome and will cheat your student in time and education. they have an F rating with the BBB and they have earned it.
Billing and online availability problems detract from their rating in my book. It would probably serve to keep looking. Also, this school is really in Philadelphia.
The Morningstar Academy has made my life alot easier. The curriculum is wonderful, I couldn't have written the lessons better myself. Before Morningstar, we did Seton and I was not impressed at all. The work is challenging and was alot more than we orginally expected, but my daughter has learned so much and retained it! This was our first year, so there was a bit of a learning curve, but overall we are very pleased. In the beginning, my daughter commented that the work was harder/more tedious than Catholic school or other homeschool curriculums we tried, but she really enjoys the reading and doing the assignments. Now that we have wrapped up the school year, my daughter told us that she feels like she learned alot since Sept and feels so good that she was able to finish the program and ace it.
The Morningstar Academy online homeschool program has been a true Godsend for me and my 5 kids. I believe online homeschooling is the best solution for them because I want them to have a sound Christian education and not be influenced by the world but with 5 in school I struggled to do it on my own. With the Morningstar Academy online school they do the lesson plans, they do the tests, the kids are challenged to think and I am convinced they are getting a very good Christian education. Also, their tuition is much less expensive than most other online homeschool programs I researched. Morningstar Academy has been around for about 10 years and that tells me they are doing something very right. I am very happy to have this program in our lives. Lydia
I have to say that as a parent of several homeshcoolers I love the MorningStar academy program. The Christian curriculum is absolutely the best I have ever worked with and the staff has been very helpful
My son has been attending this school for 3 years now. We love the fact he can do classes from grades higher than what he is technically in as he was always in the accelerated or gifted classes in public and private schools he has been in. I do not have any problem at all contacting someone for help using the chat if I have a question. My son does say though that the ask a teacher is not always available but he doesn't really ever need it. This school attracted us because he can get an actual high school diploma and it is accredited. Many other online schools we looked at do not provide a high school diploma. Anyway, I would recommend this school to anyone looking for an online home school.
This is absolutely the most non-christian school on the planet when it comes to how they work with people. They are rude, they don't call back or do what they say they'll do. I would asbsolutely NOT recommend this school to anyone wanting a good homeschooling experience. If I could rate it less than one star I would.
I've been a student at Morningstar for three years, I'm finishing my senior year with Morningstar as well. I personally think it's a great option for schooling, especially compared to certain public schools and even Christian. Yes, Morningstar can be extremely challenging, but it keeps you on your toes and 'smart.' The second you might say you are homeschooled, someone automatically thinks that you must be retarded, Morningstar proves them wrong. To stay on top of your own school work and motivated takes a lot, and I think it's made me more mature and organized. I recommend Morningstar only to someone who has the time to and self-motivation to complete school work on a daily basis. The Christian classes are great, it's definitely a daily motivation/inspirational. Good luck!
This is my son's first experience with homeschooling and it has not been very good. The one on one tutoring is pretty worthless, I have had to hire a tutor for his Algebra. When I have voiced my frustrations to the school all I get is I'm sorry. (If I can get a hold of anyone) I suppose It is good for kids that are extremely smart and don't need any teachers.
I go to the Morningstar and personally I hate it. The teachers are nice(at times), but their lazy sometimes. One teacher wouldn't change my grade she said because 'shes not able to change my grade'. I know this is a lie because my grade has been changed many times. Another thing is that many of the atomatically grade asignments mark answers wrong that are actuallly right. When this happens I have to mail the teacher and wait for a reply, which takes forever. Sorry for any spelling mitakes Im not abele to scroll down on what i'm typing so i cant see what im typing.
