Workforce Advantage Academy Charter

My son went to this school three years ago. Was told that he wouldn't graduate with his class if he returned for his senior year. Well they were right, he didn't graduate with his class, he graduated before his class (as a matter of fact 6 months before). They told us that he wouldn't have enough credits to do so, which was untrue as he completed his senior year somewhere else in a less than 3 months. They claimed that he was unmotivated as well. He is in fact very motivated and ended up being only a few credits shy of graduation when he started his senior year. He is currently working towards his B.S. in Criminal Justice at UCF and doing extremely well, thanks. How could that be if he was unmotivated? They didn't/don't, at least at that time, know what they are doing and I am sure that the same people are still there from administration to teachers unless something dramatic changed.

This school is great! It goes above and beyond to ensure there students succeed. My son had attended several high schools and this is the first one that made my son feel like they really cared about him. I felt that way too! My son always struggled in school, he actually made honor roll at Workforce Advantage Academy. The teachers and the principal leadership are wonderful. The communication between the parents and the teachers and the principal leadership is great. Communication is a very valuable tool. I can't thank them enough for all they did to help my son succeed and graduate.

As a parent, I really like this school because it allows for free-spirited students not to be stuck in traditional mundane classwork. It prepares them for the real world and while most students need a structured environment, WAA is for the kids who need the opportunity to be creative and less restricted in order to strive higher and achieve their goal of going to college and/or a career in the workforce. I praise this school because my son went from having a C-average class clown to an A/B average who joined the student body government and is now college-bound. Kudos to the staff for their excellent progress in my son and so many other students.

This school is great but many people get bad reports on it from parents that have no idea. Some students go home and complain so thier parents would take them out. The thing is we do learn alot they teach us how to make resume fill out aplications along with W-2 form etc.. the first week of school. Plus its hard to find 200 students a job. You cant expect to get one right off the bat and you can't just sit around waiting for them to give you one. That laziness on your part. I currently have a job at a Law Ferm. We only go to school half the week. The teachers are great but how are they suppose to help you if you don't ask them for it. The experience at Worfforce depends on how you make it.

We were so grateful for Workforce Advantage Academy. Regular public school did not work for my son and this was a great place. He was able to get a job while attending school at the same time. We were impressed with the staff and how helpful they were.

First of all workforce only allows 11th and 12th graders that have had some trouble but would like to improve. We are just like any other high school but with less students; smaller classes allow the teachers to be more hands on to help us with our work. Usually we do not get homeowrk because the days we are not at school we go to work.We have two groups A and B. A group goes to school on monday, every other wednesday, and thursday. B group goes tuesday, every other wednesday, and friday. The teachers here help us get jobs that will help us in the future, and prepare us to reach our goals. I am a student and consider everyone in workforce part of a big family.

This school has it's place. My son is very smart but very lazy. This school helped him to focus on his future and his work ability. The Leaders and teachers are some of the very best and want to see the children do their best.He is graduating May 19th 2007 with his class I am so pleased. He is keeping his job and starting college in June, at ITTech. The staff is a pleasure to talk to and will help students in any way, to see them succeed. Thank you for all you have done.
