Stone Lakes Elementary School

my children attended this school when it first opened in august 2006 until we moved again in september 2007. they also attended avalon about a block down the street. we lived in stoneybrook and my girls could walk through our gated community out the back gate and get to this school which is at the back gate. it is fantastic, safe, teachers are wonderful, everything is organized, the principal is the best! you will absolutely love this school!!

We moved from Georgia from what was supposed to be an A rated school in an expensive neighborhood and thought it was a good school until we got to Stone Lakes. This school absolutely blows my mind. Dr. Kennerly has made a point of personally introducing herself to all parents and teachers are amazing. I could not hope for more!

I agree. Dr. Kennerly will continue to keep Stone Lakes the number 1 school in the District. She is such a strong leader. Also, the teachers are the best. My child has gained so much being here.

Stone Lakes is a terrific school! Yes, FCAT scores are high and that is something to be proud of! This school has many dedicated teachers and this neighboorhood has great kids and involved parents. It is true the principal is not well liked by some parents, but it takes a tough cookie to run a top notch school. The kids are getting a great education in spite of cut backs and a tough economy. Negative reviews are just realestate agents trying to beef up sales in the neighboring community. Stone Lakes and Stoneybrook are a wonderful place to live. Don't hesitate to send your child to school at Stone Lakes. My child is well prepared to go to middle school and loved all her teachers all 6 years she attended. It was a great experience and I wouldn't live anyplace else!

This school is excellent. This is the 3rd state my kids have gone to school in and we are impressed. I cannot express how caring the staff and teachers are. The office staff is always friendly and helpful. The class sizes are small and the teachers care so much about each child's progress. It is very easy to communicate with them about any questions or concerns. We love it!

Worst school in the world, such a disappointment after attending Avalon Elementary School which was excellent. Dr. Kennerly is a horrible principal in my opinion and should be replaced. All she cares about are test scores. She does not take the time to make sure the teachers are doing their job correctly. She does not return phone calls. There is also over crowding. She may fire a teacher with no replacement ready. In the meantime, kids are crowded into other existing classrooms. It is very uncomfortable for the students. The school is the complete opposite of Avalon Elementary which is excellent. That school has a true Captain. I wish the zoning had not changed. Don't move to Stoney Brook, or be prepared to home school. The homework will take a few hours nightly and you will see your child learns best from you. The teachers don't teach there. The teachers don't really care, maybe just about losing their jobs. Kids are simply numbers, test scores. That is all there.

Stone Lakes is among the best schools in Orlando. When it comes to education there is no one size fits all. We are happy with this school. They have higher standards. Our daughter is challenged academically every day. When we moved we had some concerns then we had a meeting with the administration and things have improved. Parents are always welcomed to share their concerns and suggestions. Communication is the key. Way to go eagles!

Dr. Kennerly only cares about scores and perfect students. This is the worst public school in the area, fortunetly we moved and changed my son to a really good school where the principal and the teachers care about the students. Every person have their own personality and it is imposible trying to create perfect students, poor kids that they don't even have the chance to be themselves. It is very frutrated to hear your child comming from school and telling you "mom I don't want to go back to that school", "I hate my life".; and it's even worse whe you talk to the principal and she doesn't do anything.

Stone Lakes has really become an excellent school thanks to our Principal Dr. Kennerly. Although she brought change this past year, it was change the school needed. My son will be starting his 3rd year at Stone Lakes and I couldn't be happier.

New principal this year. Totally changed our school. Principal has no plan, things are constantly changing. Children need stability. All the changes are showing with grades and how kids are acting. Principal only focuses on tests and scores. Not happy, thinking of pulling my children out next year

What an amazing school! My children are thriving and the teachers and principal are top notch. Lots of extra help when needed. Great communication with teachers. Parents really care about this school. My kids are advanced readers now thanks to the new reading program! We wouldn't go anywhere else! Very happy with this community.

I have an learning disabled child (with an IEP) and we moved mid way through last year (from a real A rated school). It was a mess! This is one of the worst schools my kids have ever been in! My son did not get the help he was needing per his IEP. Many talks with the teacher and principle did nothing. I ended up pulling him and his younger brother out of this school to home school because those 5 months they were there were so horrible, they asked me not to send them back.

The change of curriculum has been a bit difficult and we all are a bit hesitant about change but hopefully, as the semester goes by, things should improve. I communicate with several teachers and it's the first I hear about their shivering issues. Child is content, teachers are working hard to assimilate and parents need to continue working in the classrooms.

This school is a total mess right now. Dr. Kinnerly does not welcome parental involvement at all despite the fact that kids score higher grades when parents are involved. The teachers are all shivering in their shoes waiting to get fired if they speak up against her. The kids aren't happy either, too many changes at once, everything has been flipped upside down on them. If you have a choice, take it and don't enroll your child at this school right now, the administration really sinks.

Great school! Teacher, staff, parents and kids are all top notch. Very happy with the environment and advanced learning experience. New principal is working hard. Great reading program plus all specials, Art, Music and PE are being taught.

I'm excited to see what the new principal can do to turn this school around. The FCAT scores were very low this year compared to other area schools like Avalon and Sunrise. The former principal seemed tired.

Horrible!! Run, don't walk to another school in the area. The administration is dismal at best and the support staff is even worse. I should state that if your child is an overachiever and needs very little support from the staff, they will probably do fine. But if your need extra help or for goodness sakes, if your child is a special needs child or on an IEP - do not send them to Stone Lakes!! If you do, be prepared to visit the school often and be totally involved with your child's cirriculum and academic progress. Visit the classroom at least every other week and become deeply familiar with Florida and Federal education laws...Stone Lakes certainly isn't!
