I am relocating with my family from Colorado at the end of February and I am looking for the best elementary school in the Orlando area. I am deciding between East Lake Elementary, Sunrise Elementary and Stone Lakes Elementary. The decisions are being based on Test Scores, Great School Ratings, Extra Curricular Activities.. any suggestions from Orlando residents would be greatly appreciated!

Hi CMClemons,

Here'a a GreatSchools article to get you started. http://www.greatschools.org/find-a-school/moving/3986-choosing-a-school-from-a-distance.gs

Don't be afraid to ask your university for help. Most schools have some sort of program that will help adult students with off campus housing and don't be afraid to talk to real estate professionals as well. They can help you find the right house in the neighborhood that will allow you to go to the schools you are interested in.

Also, check out this page on the Orange County Public School system, so you're aware of the programs available, and their cutoff dates. http://www.greatschools.org/florida/orlando/Orange-County-Public-Schools/

Good luck, and let us know what you find out.

Hi CMClemons-I am interested in knowing what you decided, as well. My family will be moving to the Orlando area next year, and trying to decide on the 'best' public elementary school for my daughter to teach at is hard from a distance. Would love to hear about your experiences with the 3 you've chosen!
