My daughter is about to finish her kindergarden year this month. And my daughter really enjoy's this school. Her teacher Mrs.Holder is a wonderful teacher, and is very involved as a teacher. She has helped my daughter succeed as a star student. The parent's a quite involved in the school as well and has a large PTA following. I would advise anyone to have thier children attend Lockmar Elementary, and are truly blessd to have my child go to such a fantastic school.

My daughters have attended Lockmar since kindergarden. I am saddened that this will be their last year and they will be off to JR. High. I have always liked Lockmar. I feel my children have gotten a wonderful education by teachers who really do care. All of the staff takes interest in the children and know them (and myself) on a first name basis. The only downfall of the school is the new vice principal. She is definitely on a power trip and many parents have taken note. Her tactics are somewhat unprofessional at times. However, the school overall is still great.

There is a genuine concern by the teachers for the students to both empower and enable them for success in their future. This is demonstrated everyday by the continued sacrifice of the teachers going above and beyond to help children not only obtain the basic skills but also by building self confidence and teaching life skills that are in critical need. There is additional staff to provide assistance to those students that need additional help to grasp the basics.

This is a great school. 3 of my kids go to lockmar. The teachers take their time to explain to the kids if they are having problems with the work. My son is in the pre kindergarten at Lockmar and his teacher is really doing wonders with him. Before he went to Lockmar his teacher was strapping him to a chair and not teaching him to talk, communicate or really anything. He was learning more at home than at school. I love Lockmar elementary

We moved to this area so our three kids with IEP's could go to Lockmar. We were told it was one of the best in county for special education. We are removing our kids and using the Mckay Scholarship as things went very bad. My kids ask why the principle doesn't even acknowledge their 'hello's'! Very bad school!

My son was at this school for 3 years and I have to say I was very disappointed with the school. I think it is highly overrated.

There is no help for children who need tutoring services, and parents who cannot afford to pay for a tutor. The principle is no help. Very dissapointed.

This school is fantastic. Quality staff, organization, clean, structured, etc. My children are extremely happy at Lockmar. It is clear to see how and why we are the best public school in Palm Bay.

The staff is excellent. The special ed. teachers seem to go out of their way to make sure the kids get exactly what they need (individual attention). Love the newly updated look!

I'm disappointed in the school. My child is having problems and only at the last minute through my insistence is the school trying to deal with it. His teacher is terrible, she is not accustom to teaching such young children. I never had problems with the school for my older child because she is a A/B student.

As a dedicated parent of a third grader at Lockmar Elementary I have to say I am thoroughly pleased with everything about the education my daughter is receiving. I would like to nominate Mrs. Latner for teacher of the year for having inspired my daughter to want to learn and grow.

I think Lockmar Elementary is a totally AAAA+ school. Everyone works together, teachers, parents. My son's 2nd grade teacher Mrs. Ammon is a wonderful asset to this school, her knowledge and caring for her students in achieving the very best they can do is a wonderful achienvment. The after school staff is a genunine caring one on one . They take part in after school activities in projects they bring home or just in activietie that they all learn to play and care for eachother. The front staff is friendly and caring. Over all Lockmar is a wonderful school , I am very proud as a parent that my son attends here.

My experience with this school has been a Big Disapointment. There was lots of mold in that office and school. My daughter has issues with her teacher, I talked to the prinicple and asked if she could move to another class where I knew there was an opening and I was just passed from one person to another and she never got transferred and I took her out of school. I feel this school is not student and parent friendly.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
