Carwise middle school is like any other middle school, it has kids, teachers some bullies and, well a building! Yes I know their is bullying at this school, but you can't side from that, all other schools on this planet have bullies! The academics are great you can learn above your grade level and you don't even know it. It all just comes natural with the way the teachers teach! In the past 3 years after middle school I still mis it, being a middle schoolers at carwise is a hole lot better that being a high schooled in Dunedin! The teachers their are great some of them are a little ruff but hey that is the way that life works, think if their ruff know it's only to teach you what to expect in high school and after high school! At Dunedin high their are about 12 kids that came from carwise and all of those kids are the best in class, in the grading system it lists all the kids with the highest grade average and score in the school all the carwise kids bet the seniors and juniors and sophomores combined! I just want to say I miss you carwise! And I will never forget you! GO SHARKS!
I am on this site because I am considering private school for my 7th grader who is currently at Carwise. The teachers are indifferent at best. One has admitted in writing, to giving up and letting him do his own thing. This is a child who was absent for 13 days straight with medical documentation and has a 504 plan in place. Yet I cant get teachers or the administration to help make up for lost instructional time at all. so an honor roll student taking advanced classes is now failing.
This school is bad - period! The teacher's are lazy and never go out of their way for any child who may be experiencing difficulties. The kids are mean to each other and the school never teachers them how to care and respect each other. The VP is a joke. She is unprofessional at best. If you child is different in anyway - find another school - you won't be accepted here and no one will be educated enough to help you - this includes the teaching staff. My child is in seventh grade and is miserable. The teachers are disrespectful and have not figured out that they are teaching for the students - not only to collect a pay check. Poor professional ethics. It's impossible to get anyone to help you and you are virtually shut out of the school if you have a problem or need help. This is a prime example of how schools are failing our kids. The only reason students score so high on standardized testing at this school is because Florida's standard are very low and many of the students at this school come from educated families.
Carwise Middle School is over all the best middle school ever. All the teachers are fun, nice and understanding, and really do care about your grade. I'm in the band and Mr. Obara is the best ever!! He's so much fun. I really recommend this school!! Go Sharks!!!
I have been a student at this school for two years and the teachers are spectacular and the kids are great. I would say that it is the best school that someone can go to in this area. I hate to disagree with those who say it is a horrible school, but I am now in the MEGSSS and IMAST programs and I am learning beyond my grade level.
I will have to say it's more what I hear from all 3 of my children that have gone or are going to Carwise Middle school. My oldest who is in college at USF, still thinks this was the best school she went to of all. It gave her the foundation to go on through High School with Honors and advanced classes. They taught her how to organize her schedules to accomplish her homework and studies to become a productive student and citizen. My 2nd daughter who is in 10th grade enjoyed the School song theme and still sings it to this day - 'Don't Laugh at Me' which is a song teaching diversity and accepting the differences in all of us. She believes this is something all children at any age, need to learn. If this little song can help just a few to remember the feelings of others before they speak, just think how the world may turn out in a few years. My son, who currently goes there, is having so much fun in the 7th grade. He has come a long way since last year. He had to struggle with learning the routine of getting home work for 7 classes in 6th grade. This year has been a turn around so far. He is coming home and doing homework before I even ask him about it. He has improved his handwriting and planning for his projects. I would say allot of it is due to his summer school teacher. Just the little extra time she spent teaching them how to learn while having fun has done wonders for him. I am incredibly thankful that my 3 children have had the opportunity to go to such a wonderful school. I only wish that every child had the same to be taught so many things that are needed to succeed in life.
One of the worst schools we have encountered! The kids are nasty and disrespectful not only to eachother but to the teachers who seem to be numb to this behavior. Do not send your child there. After 3 weeks we pulled our child after relocating to the area and have enrolled her in a fundamental school instead where respect for one-another and their self is taught and trust me everyone was happy. Especially the kids at not being bullied and stressed out. Please look for alternatives. You and your child will be glad you did.
I love Joseph L. carwise middle school . All teachers care about you and your grade. My child had a F in math class and the math teacher talked to him/ her and helped her improve him/her grade.
I love my school! They handle problems affectnetly and have great teachers! I would never want to go anywere else for middle school! Go Sharks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
carwise is the best school in the world the teachers rocks and they care about kids grade mrs hert is the best math teacher at carwise for 7th grade
The school has positive and negative points. I'd like to see teachers be more pro-active, alerting parents (via email or phone) of issues and concerns re: a child' grades. Also, bus drivers should be evaluated. My chidl is in 7th grade and takes the bus and has indicated the driver speeds and drives crazy.
I think that Carwise is overall a good school. We have had a couple issues there with the halls being blocked by bullying children in the 8th grade but, as soon as the concern was mentioned, there were more people in the halls to watch what was going on and ensure the safety of the children. The guidance counselor, Mrs. Laird, is great and is patient in listening to concerns and great at helping to try and get them resolved and look for positive ways to help out.
Good school overall. Some really excellent teachers. Would like to see more learning opportunities such as field trips and activities and rewards for good student behavior and achievement. My son has never gone on a field trip in two years.
this is one of the worst schools in the county! Teachers are indifferent, adminiistration is indifferet! I wish i could have my choice back! A lot of fighting.
This is an excellent school. My daughter went here for her middle school experience and enjoyed it greatly.
1600 children in the hallway makes for a dangerous walk to and from the bus The teachers do not proactively let the parents know what will be studied. I suggest that each class have a syllabus handed out at the beginning of the year. If college students are not responsible enough to get the information day to day, then middle school children certainly are not responsible enough. The teachers are inaccessible and defer to 'I have 150 students' when asked to participate in the education and discipline of a child. The parent is not in school. The parent cannot be there to discipline at the time of poor behavior choices. This is where Carwise fails.
I have a 7th grade daughter that is is the Jazz Band and Advanced band. She is also in the Imast gifted science program. She absolutely loves the school and thrives there. I think that it is wonderful that she gets to have band classed twice a day. I could not have picked a better school for her.
I am overall pleased with the school and the progress my son has made in these past three years. The school is only 11 years old and has hurricane window protectors that show how much they care about the safety of our children.
