INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

In regards to the previous posts, I have been extremely involved with this school for the last 3 years. PTA is extremely involved, and encourages all parents to have a part, no matter how big or small, everything matters and counts. I do NOT agree with the lack of school security, these teachers are always with their students and anytime a child needs to go to the office, they send two classmates to walk them up and they have a partner to walk back with. Im sad to hear that some parents have had a bad experience with the office staff, it is very few far and between, very rare that this happens. They never let anybody just walk through the office without signing in AND show their ID, yes may be an inconvenience if you forgot it, but it is for the safety of each of the students. Yes the car line is long, but of you either come early or arrive around 2:50pm it is much easier. They do their best and is more organized than most schools. I reassuring seeing so many parent/family members taking the time to come safely pick up their child from school instead of walking home by themselves. These are small issues compared to all of the love, education, and encouragement given to each child.

Coming from California ..the Florida "system" really ticks me off! BUT I have to say..this school isn't horrible. My daughter cried the first month we were here because she missed recess (CA has 3 during the day). have been irritated more at the whole system and not at this school..they are only doing their jobs. Both years now my daughter has liked her teachers. I have also been satisfied with her teachers. Both teachers have stated they hate homework :) Good..because so do i!! My daughter has 30 mins a night of reading and I was told any classwork not finished will come home but there is enough time in class ..I should hardly see any work come home. I think it's great that everyone gets free breakfast..but once again the "system" is failing the kids.. my daughter eat Poptarts every morning until I found out! The worse part about this school is the car circle pick up line..HOLY COW!! BUT..as the school year goes on..it gets better and better..everyone falls into a routine and things improve. With all honesty I see the car line HOT MESS at a lot of others schools too..not use to that!! Overall I'm pretty satisfied with LSG and it's staff. PTA is very active!

I have both my boys in this school since last year so far we love the school and teachers.everyone is so kind and welcoming.they can do a little better on breakfast choices for the kids. i been to other schools that provide better breakfast menu, more wholesome breakfast not always poptarts and toast but like they do here.other than that A+

I don't want my kids at this school. I went to register my kindergartener and the lady yelled at me because I didn't have the right stuff. I tried asking questions to see if i could get the right stuff and not mess up and she stared at me and started talking really slow and rowling eyes at me. I was so embarrassed in front of my children. My daughter says the lady was mean to her in the office this week and she is scared to go in there. My kindergartner is now afraid of new school. Other parents said that they have the same problem but that all of the office has been there long time and think they can talk how they want. It is not right!!!!!!!

The office staff at this school is very rude. If they don't like you they will try and make everything difficult. They don't want to help if you are from another country and will make you feel like you should find a different school. It's clear that this school operates like an elitist clique and if you're unlucky enough to not be accepted then you and your children will be made uncomfortable. I have liked most of the teachers, but some are more interested in being the "cool" teacher instead of furthering their student's education. Security at this school is as lax as previous commenters noted, especially in regards to lunch and dismissal. If we could afford to sell our home I would move out of this district. I wish the county would give this school an overhaul.

Lake St. George Elememtry needs a peridime shift and real quick! Never have I seen a student come home with so much homework, are the teachers teaching anymore? My own sister who has been teaching for 30+ years is in disgust of the amount homework my son brings home every single night! Teach the children!!

Fantastic school for my grandson, who has Asperger's syndrome that is on the autism sprectrum. Since Ms Texel took over as principal, two and a half years ago. Training is done. Everyone communicates. Before she came to the school, it was terrible. Definitely highly recommended if your child or grandchild is on the autism sprectrum.

We came from another county and were completely shocked how behind this school was. My child's teacher calls him the math wiz because she gets all the answers right, but this is stuff he learned last year at his former school. My child is not learning anything new. We are very disappointed in the school. Safety is also an issue at the school too.

This is the WORST school I have ever seen. No wonder why they lose students every year. Poor teachers, principal, and your child is NOT safe at this school. Kindergarten teacher Lori Patterson is the worst teacher and is more concerned with her physical appearance than teaching. For grading, they allow the students to correct their low grade tests to better their scores - disgusting!! Teach, not redo to look better.

I have been involved with Lake St. George for 10 years....I have 4 children...I believe LSG is one of the best schools in Pinellas County Florida!! You feel like you are at home....everyone knows everyone ....the kids WANT to go to school. The school involves the parents and families as much as possible. I feel comfortable with dropping my children off because I know that they are going to have a great day!!

I love this school because they do so much for the kids, examples: a fall festival Halloween Carnival every year. The teachers donate their time every year to make everyone's Halloween very special by putting on a Fall Festival with games , fun and entertainment. Every child is a winner with the games and gets a prize no matter if they won the game or not. They put on a family picnic every year as well , again donating their time to play games , have athletic events , such as kids vs parents kickball etc. I have spoken to many parents from other schools who envy our school because they put on so many nice events for the kids and community. They state that their schools do not do all these events and I have talked to many parents in the area who want their children to attend Lake St George Elementary School because of all the wonderful things they do each year for the students and the community as a whole.

The best school in Pinellas county for sure! Even the teachers think so. The local paper published some data recently that showed that LSG has more transfer requests (teachers trying to transfer to LSG) than any other school in the county. If everyone wants to be here, there must be a reason. :) My child has received the best education while attending LSG. The teachers are very committed to their work and go above and beyond what is required of them. Currently the school is actively involved in the Reading Units of Study. I have observed this in my child's classroom and think it is the best reading curriculum that is out there. The new principal is amazing. Her leadership is right on and she knows what needs to be done for the kids. Their best interest is her main focus. Everyone was supportive of her becoming principal 100%.

i have been invovled with this school through my siblings and own children for over twenty years. it has always excelled and been one of the best and with the current staff in all departments, it has only become better! i have had experience with elite private schools and the academic and social education my family has received far out ways our previous private school ! some of my children have gone on to enter and graduate from honors college programs largely due in part to the foundation they received at LSG. i still have a child at LSG and after his graduation to middle school will remain a volunteer at this exceptional school. much of the staff is the original staff members, no one could ask or find better. you can't find better for your children then LSG! take it from very particular parents when it comes to their children.

My child enjoys going school. The principal, teachers and staff make it so that they get to know each of the children on a one and one basis. Parent involvement is also a part of what makes this school great. I believe that my child is receiving the best education that a public school can offer if not better. It takes effort from not only the school but from the parents and we have both.

Our daughter entered Kindergarten at Lake St. George Elementary this year. We have been thrilled with not only the leadership at this school but also the comradery between the teachers and the parents. Our daughters social and academic skills have soared and we really believe the school staff and families whose children attend have really made a difference!

Outstanding school! They instill Respect, Motivation, Courtesy, Perserviance, and commitment to character in all the children. Our son is excelling in reading, math skills, writing science, art, music and perssonal growth in general! The faculty IS kind and truly interested in the welfare of the kids. The principal even has lunch with his kids every week.Music and art are enphasized and their is always something going on that involves family participation like dances, book fairs, skate nights etc. Parents are more than welcome on campus and are encouraged to be involved with their kids even if just to come have lunch with them. We love Lake St. George Elementary and we are looking forward to another year of growth with our son and our family!

In Kindergarten, algebra and geometry worksheets were sent home. I've always been impressed by knowing our kids are recieving advanced training. Our teachers are extrememly involved, and you know they love what they are doing. I'm very blessed.

Lake St George Elementary is an excellent school. The Principal, teachers and staff are truly dedicated to the children (and to the parents). Their teaching and educational background is the best. They encourage and value parent participation and volunteerism. Your child's teacher is always available should you need to speak with him/her and work with your schedule. They have numerous activities through-out the year for parents & children to have fun. They are committed to the well-being of the children. They make it a positive learning experience! This is my daughter's last year at Lake St George and both she and I will truly miss the school and it's staff.
