My daughter's kindergarten teacher is very sweet. Aside from that, this is a poorly run facility. Dropping off and picking up my daughter is always a nightmare. I can't even unbuckle, hug and kiss my daughter goodbye without being harrased by a faculty member. I agree on the licence plate thing. Quite ridiculous. Any time I've had an issue and went to address it with the office faculty, they respond with attitude. Not only has the staff disrespected me... But my five year old as well. I will be unenrolling my child and finding a better facility for her to attend. Do not waist you childs potential. Please look into other options if you can.
The pickup/dropoff of car riders has got to be the most unorganized thing I've EVER encountered. Their security measure for assuring each child gets into the appropriate vehicle is a plastic licence plate you write your child's name and grade on. This is ridiculous. Anyone could get a blank one from your local store and write your childs name on it. Absolutely moronic.
My son just started grade K this year and so far the teacher is doing great. The only issue I have is with the ESE coordinator who lacks the people skills needed to deal with a parent of child who basically can't speak for himself. She doesn't understand that issues may arise that are unforeseen and that she and the parent should calmly work together to solve it. Instead she tried to push her I am supreme attitude around and things got out of hand. Either she needs more training with her 'bed side manners' or they need to find another ESE coordinator.
My daughter started kindergarden there last year!! It was going great she had a really good teacher till, the 2nd week of school (mind you this was her first year) she was served w/ two lunch detentions for being late to class because she kept getting lost and she has extreme anxiety... that was such a poor move and i refused her to serve it and they did it anyways without my permission!! very sad no one answered my question when I asked where was the hallway supervisors to direct her!! hopefully this year is better!
I love pretty much everything about the school, except for when it comes to picking up the children after school or anything eles that involves a little bit of organization.
I When my daughter went there for her fist year a kindegatener I was nervous but as time went on she loved it and so did I it is a great school the teachers staff and faculty are great and friendly I give it 5 + stars. Her teacher was Ms.Taveras she was the greatest teacher and helped me with evrything.my daughter loves her and still asks about her till this day we moved so she doesnt attend that school this year we were really upset :( .
I am a parent of a dual lang student who is absolutely excelling at both Spanish and also English. She feels a part of the school, people recognize her and praise her. The cirriculum is a gradual knowledge with a solid foundation. The teachers are willing to meet with you at any time to discuss your child. The principal is available and I can see a true effort to encourage learning, education and the building of character in the children.
This school offers the Dual Language Program for students which in today's workplace in South Florida, speaking, writing, and reading spanish is a must!!! Great teachers!!!
This school has awesome options for the kids. They keep up with the children and update parents frequently. There is something at the school to keep parents involved at least weekly, whether SAC, Dual Language, Reading GIrl Scouts, etc. I ahve been very impressed with the goals, the encouragement, and the participation.
they make a lot of activities for the kids and parents the security is good
This school has been great . They know the kids by name in the halls and a lot of the parents that way also. You get what you plant, way to go CO Taylor
Three of my children attend C.O. Taylor and have had a positive experience all the way around. The school's building is outdated; but I hear that a new school is in the planning stages of construction. The teachers are friendly and very informative. The Dual Language program is wonderful! I'm so proud that my oldest daughter is bilingual in reading, writing and speaking!
This school may be rated an 'A' but I would rate it a 'D'. My daughter went through kindergarten and first grade and it was so bad I had to request a change of school for her. The classes are overcrowded, the school is poorly set up with unsafe 'open' classrooms, the staff blind to the daily events that occur there, and the drop off/pick up is not only way too long but dangerous! They push the dual-language program because that is the only thing that the school has to offer. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
Stong parent PTA, good mix of after school activities/clubs. Good academic programs that challenge the children.
My daughter just began the 3rd grade. She has been at this school all 4 years ( including kindergarden). She also has been in the dual language all years. It is a great program. She does get along better with the English teachers so I am very proud of her continuing with the spanish program ( I do give her the choice to do this. ) They have great activities and send home info on what is going on within the school.
Excellent leadership from the principal and teachers are always friendly and informative. I have had all four of my children attend over the years and never have we had a negative experience. Has remained an 'A' school for several years now.
My daughter is going into first grade and so far everything has been ok with this school. I feel pretty comfortable with her being there. I was always taught not to judge a book by its cover, but I'll tell you, this school does need a makeover. It is so outdated. But I do like all the teachers so far and they are the only school that offers a dual language program.
Bad drop-off and pick ups. Will have to wait in line for long amounts of time. Always pushing the dual language program. Says it's a B school, but more like a C/D school.
