Unlike the other schools in this area these children are on the playground before school begins, They are not walking in a circle nor are they sitting in the lunchroom. This children are playing soccer(age appropriate) playing ball or on the jungle gym. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The environment is very clean and child friendly!

I attended Deer Point for 2 years, and I loved it there. The teachers always go above and beyond to help their students ts succeed. There was always fun extracurricular activities for the students, and the staff always had a smile on their face and always encouraged the student body to never give up, and follow your dreams. The only negative about the school was the fact that I was always being asked to donate money to the school. But overall, its an AMAZING school with outstanding qualities

My two boys are in their second at Deerpoint, and we are very happy with the school and the teachers. They teach in pods, which gives the students a unique opportunity to learn from different personalities, and allows the teachers to collaborate to come up with strong and creative lesson plans. This has also allowed for both of my children to have the same teacher two years in a row, because both teachers chose to 'loop' with their class up to the next grade level. This was an amazing opportunity for my children for many reasons. One, my 10 year old has ADHD, and having the same teacher for 3rd and 4th grade gave him consistency and structure that otherwise takes months for a teacher to achieve. Second, we are a military family and so far, my kids have been to 4 different schools in 4 different states in the last 4 years. Having the stability of the same school has been a huge benefit for our family. Lastly, the teachers and the staff are awesome. They are enthusiastic about our children, they provide many different outlets for learning, including free after-school clubs like Drama, Running, and Tech Clubs, and the school is shiny and new. We love it!

Have had nothing but good experience with the teachers and staff at Deer Point Elementary School. They go out of their way to help my daughter, who has a learning disability. She has improved greatly in all subjects.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
