Tommy Smith has an excellant regiment going. The teachers are great and their discipline codes are enforced making sure that children can go to school feeling safe and happy. Although they do not have recess they do have some 'free time' which is often spent out on the fields! They also have an hour lunch break which gives them time to relax too. My son never complains about going to school and he genuinely seems to enjoy it there!

The previous poster has no grip on reality! TSE is a great school with a very dedicated, outstanding principal and has great teachers. This parent obviously has no clue as to how young children learn! I have always found this school personal, and empathetic to my needs as well as to the needs of my child. The school DOES have an outstanding gifted program, as well as other avenues for gifted children to excel. I imagine that the school wishes this disgruntled parent would have chosen another school, too. They probably just could not get their own way! Great school - outstanding leadership!

Tommy Smith is a good school. It has a great curriculum for elementary. My only complaint would be the kids are not allowed to have recess. I think kids should have at least a 10 minute break just like adults have breaks at work.

Tommy Smith is a wonderful school. They are aware of todays peer pressure and the principal calls each child by name on sight.

As a parent and teacher new to the area, I have been extremely impressed with Tommy Smith Elementary. I have a 2nd grader and a kindergartener at T.S. this year and I spent many hours observing and assisting in the school last year. The administrators are involved, helpful and very visible. There is an open door policy at T.S. that was not seen in the other schools I visited in Bay County. Instructional time was stressed to the students and the staff was helpful and prepared. I was and continue to be pleased with the education and atmosphere of Smith Elementary.
