Riverglades Elementary School

It's my daughter's first year attending Riverglades, and were only 2 weeks into the school year, but so far, WOW! I am totally inlove with this school! Not to mention, my duaghter actually loves to go to school now. Her teacher actually takes the time to email the parents and communicate with them. And she leaves the line open to communicate with her as well. My daughter loves her teacher and just loves going to this school. I think already said that, but I this is such a big thing compared to how she felt last year about her old school. She would cry almost everyday and say she hates school and never wants to go back. Now, she freaks out if she doesn't get to school by 7:30am. We are both so happy. This school is sucha community involved school. I love it!

There are good teachers like Mrs Marks in this school. But there is super lousy teacher in grade 3 gifted class. She is unfair, ill-minded and race discrimination. She does not fit to be a teacher. She is really the worst teacher we ever met so far.

This school has the best teachers that are there for their students and a great office staff. My son has been there from Kindergarten and now in 5th Grade and my daughter started Kindergarten this year and they both have teachers that truly love being teachers and have the gift of making a difference.

I am going on my 6 year at RE, and have 8 more to go! By far this is a community school, you feel part of it all! The communication is great! The PTA is a good organization and allows for parents to be involved.

The teachers at Riverglades challenge the students and themselves to excel. Most parents are involved in the school and you feel a great spirit of cooperation towards common goals. The principal is outstanding and so are the counselors. I've had 2 of my children attend this wonderful school.

We moved to Parkland from New England last year. This is a wonderful and compassionate school. I have one daughter now in 4th grade and it has been a fantastic experience for her and a very smooth transition from the Rhode Island school system. Her teacher last year was phenomenal and this year, again, she has an amazing teacher. - Thank you Riverglades!

I have 3 children, so I've known the school, teachers and staff for 8 years now and I am very happy with the school. There is always room for improvement, but in my experience, all of the teachers (and I've dealt with 13 of them so far) have been wonderful to my children and my perception is that they genuinely care for them, and they have done job teaching them.

This school definitelly does not live up to the hype. While the teachers seem to be good, the office staff is cold and unhelpful at best like some other parent said. Also the classes are crowded and parking is limited. If you are thinking of moving to parkland for the schools don't. Your child would do much better in a private school.

My son has attended this school for 3 years and we have been pleased. I believe more could be done with the yard and area where the children play and have pe. They unfortunately have to be in the hot pavement or weed covered grass without any shade. With the donations this school recieves I would think they could improve that. Otherwise, they have some wonderful programs and after school events children and family attend. Teachers caring and very willing to work with the parents as a team.

If you want a school that teaches to the test and has larger class sizes, this is your school. The only score that counts is reading and in 4th grade, writing. The parent involvement is amazing, the teachers care, but the administration is quite cold and ungrateful. It is not optimum learning environment.

Riverglades is a great school. My daughter has been attending this school for 4 years and she is attending music and Spanish class this year. There are some teachers I like better than others but that will happen at any school. I love that the school is next to the nature preserve and sometimes the teachers will take the students there and teach outdoors. I still think this school is the best in Broward county.

Riverglades is a really good school with good staff, however, this is a case where new regulations regarding class size restrictions have killed all of the great non-core non-FCAT programs. So the teachers have to include these within the classroom whenever possible and I thank them for trying.

I am so impressed by the quality of their academic program. My daughter just finished Kindergarten and is now able to read and write at a level higher than the children of our family and friends at other schools throughout the country. The faculty is exceptional and focused on educating the students with the latest principals and in a safe environment. The administration is friendly and responsive. This is a top rated school and the reasons are clear.

This school is supposed to be one of the best elementary schools in Broward county, but it has a lot of problems. If you are willing to move to Parkland just for the school system, consider private school instead. Riverglades doesn't live up to its reputation.

I think this school is going down the road of many schools in the area. Where it once was a shining star.. it is now just another overcrowded, undersupported school. I just think we can do better, especially with the parent support and sponsorship this school gets.

My daughter has been in Riverglades for 2 years now and I cannot express how happy I am. The academic programs are excellent. My daughter has learned so much in the past two years. The teachers are caring and I am happy to send my daughter to Riverglades everyday. The extra programs that the school offers are terrific. There is something for everyone at this school. The level of parent involvement is wonderful. All of the parents get together and work with their childs teacher and work with the other parents to make Riverglades a great environment for our children. I cannot express how happy I am.
