Excellent School!!! My child is in Kindergarden this year in Ms. Herr... class and she is so excited to learn everything. She is exposed to so many wonderful educational things that amazes me. When I speak with her it feels as if I'm speaking to a 3rd grader. I knew my kid was always smart, but PPE continues to challenge and encourage her. I am very pleased with PPE and recommend this school to other parents.

Awesome school! My daughter was having a lot of trouble with reading and failed kindergarten @ stirling elementary, but 1st grade with Ms. Hamilton was great. She really took the time to spark my daughters interest to over come her frustration, and now she's turning into a book worm. I wish my daughter would've gotten her this year for 2nd grade, but Ms. Payero is a doll too. I'm definitely satisfied with my daughter staying in this school until she finishes 5th grade. Also, the staff is very friendly, as well.

I am proud to have 3 students go through this school.I am a very involved parent and volunteer at many of school events. The teachers are AMAZING!They have been through so much with all of the administration changes in the last few years. The new principal is lovely. She is very involved, professional, knowledgeable, and so pleasant She supports her teachers and tries to get to know the students and parents on a personal level. She seems like a great asset and a welcomed change.I have had more positive interaction with her in her first 3 months, than ANY interaction with the previous principal in all of his 5 years. The previous principal was very stand off ish and unprofessional. He ran his staff ragged with no gratitude for all of their hardwork & dedication. It showed on the staff faces. I already see the positive difference in the staff this year. They seem to be flourishing, which means that my children will flourish.I am my children's first and most important teacher for the rest of their lives. The PPE teachers are fantastic at helping me to help my children. My children are so happy to go to school at PPE and it makes me feel good to know how great PPE is.

This school is fabulous! All of the teachers work hard. There are many that go above and beyond to help their students. In today's world, it is very sad that teachers are under appreciated, yet at pembroke pines elem. - you would never know it. They come in smiling every day and do a great job with our students. All of my children's teachers have been so wonderful, hardworking, and professional. The new principal is motivated and helpful. I think it's a great place for my children to be.

Outstanding school, I have not had any issues. My daughter, who is in 1st grade had great difficulty with her reading and comprehension class and thanks to Mrs. Rodriguez assistance, I have seen a drastic improvement in my daughter grade. I hope that as she goes through the remaining of her school years, she will continue to have teachers like Mrs Rodriguez who will be able to identify her weaknesses and work of them. THANK YOU Mrs. Esther Rodriguez.

My son is in the 3rd grade this year. Being that this is his first year in a public school from a charter school, I am very proud at the commitment of the teachers and dedication of all the staff. The principal is very attentive and the office staff and administration are very approachable. Thank you is not enough to say to all that work there. My son's teacher is great at the progress and transition of my son. Great school!!

Autism cluster needs a lot of improvement.I do not know what they do with all the extra money they received for having these children. The teachers need more training, there are a few(only one actually) that are good, but most of them don't know what they are doing (I am talking about the autism cluster) They should get some professional ABA therapist.

My daughter is in the 5th grade at PPE. She has been there since Kindergarten. She really likes the school, but I have seen a decline in teacher quality over the last 3 years. Thankfully, she is thriving and in advanced subject matter, but my hopes are that the new principal can bring it back to prominence.

PPE took a turn for the worse in the last few years. Glad that a new principal and asst. principal are coming in. This once 'A' school is now the only 'C' elementary school in Pembroke Pines. I wish I had another option. Hopefully the new administration will turn things around

The program has been a disappointment so far. The parent participation is non existent. I submitted two volunteer sheets and still have not heard anything. I was also the class mom and had to continually ask what activites there would be in the classroom and was told several times, none. We are now considering private school.

The quality of the education will change drastically as upwards of 20+ teachers have left the school for 'undisclosed' reasons. Whatever the 'reason' is, the office staff and teacher morale is noticable. The whole atomosphere of the school has totally changed. My children are not as happy there as in previous years. Field trips: A trip was scheduled for an entire grade, with a deadline date for registration. Only half of the grade was allowed to attend, even before the deadline approached, the trip was closed. How fair was that?

Pembroke Pines Elementary is an excellent and quality school. Under the leadership of the now retired principal Mr. Drag the school reached 'A' status. The school is top notch; however, I am a bit concerned about students that live outside of the area being bused and driven in. Pembroke Pines has been a great learning institution with a thoughtful and caring staff for the children of the Pines Village for such a long time, I would hate to see that change. Move to Pines Village and get a great school in return.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science and writing in grades 4, 8 and 10. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
