Horrible experience!!!! They used up all my sons VPK hours to only conveniently tell us that he's being kicked out of school for his behavior! Mind you, we had ONLY 1 parent teacher meeting AND HE'S ONLY 4 YEARS OLD!!!! I specifically explained to them that the culture from his previous school was COMPLETELY different then Montessori but they ASURRED me that he was going to be "just fine". Clearly all they cared about was the $ signs!!! What they want are kids that don't have a mind of there own in order to make the teachers jobs a whole lot easier. As far as curriculum is concerned, they're way behind from where other VPK schools are. I wouldn't recommend this school to ANYONE!!!!
My daughter started Montessori Academy when she was 3 years old and is now 8 years old in third grade. My son voluntarily started as a toddler at 23 months when we went for a tour. I had to buy him a uniform and leave him because he was so excited to stay. He is now almost 5 and in pre-k. My children have never come home with ant bites, they have rarely if ever been sent to the thinking chair, and even during the one year that proved most challenging(my daughter's kindergarten), she never wanted to leave her school or change classrooms. My children are rarely ever sick. They are happy to go to school and are very well rounded. Ms. Monica is available for any concerns and knows every child even now that the school has become so large. Just today, when faced with the decision of moving to an amazing home on the beach they both absolutely loved, or staying at Montessori, they both chose Montessori.
Had terrible experience. Staff appear welcoming, but I was literally told I was "unwelcomed" to observe my child. I don't know about the upper grades, but Montessori is just in the name. There isn't much of the "Montessori" philosophy going on in the 1-2 age group. It is just a day care like any other, with too many kids and too little staff. My child would come home without eating her food, they weren't attentive enough to make sure kids of this age ate (they can't feed themselves). The helpers sit aside and do not respond when children distressed and having conflict. They should be following and reinforcing the Montessorian standards for addressing child conflict. After only a couple weeks my child got sick twice. Don't let the soft-spoken sweet director influence you. It is a daycare. We pulled our child out and received a refund.
It is sad that the school has to write its own good reviews, pretending to be parents and manipulates the bad reviews from very dissatisfied parents, reporting them to remove them from this website that is a guide for parents like me that once was misguided about the excellence of this school. Just check right now the number of students in the middle school classroom, 40 students? Is it worth the money?
My daughter has been attending this school for 3 years and we both love it. She keeps excelling in her work and the teachers are very caring. The Director is a Gem. She has an amazing heart and has a vision for the children and the school. My daughter will be here until 8th grade.
My children have attended this school for the past 7 years and their program, teachers, staff and administration are exceptional! It is because of their genuine care for the students (and parents) that this school continues to grow. Although it is a large school with many students it is truly one big family. The students are challenged throughout the curriculum, however their individual needs are respected. My kids are very different (as all children are) yet the teachers and administration have always supported their needs. I recommend this school with NO reservations.
I love this schoo. My kids are happy to got schoo. My four year old is reading and adding and subtracting. My 6 year old is reading at a 3rd grade level and doing division and multiplications. The teachers are kind the Montessori way is kind and not catered to the masses but to the child. I recommend this school with no reservations.
Very satisfied! I am a mother of two whose sole interest is in my children's well-being. I find it very sad that just because your child could not flourish in the Montessori environment, you blame it on the school. Montessori is not for everyone. WIth that being said, most children do benefit from a Montessori education. Its true, the school will not tolerate unruly, misbehaved, rude and disrespectful children. They will however work with you if there are any academic issues. I come from the principle that it is first the parents role to educate the child and the school is only a compliment. If you do not invest the necessary time in your own child, how can you expect for a school to be solely responsible for their weaknesses. The mistake many parents are making nowadays is that they believe that because they are paying for education, they are no longer liable to be involved. This is terrible! Montessori will work with you, but you have to be game too! The school does focus on academics more than leisure time... but, why does a parent send a child to school? I am satisfied with the school. I feel it is my children's second home. Sorry for all those that don't get it!
My child attended this school for 2 years I did not like it here. I left him for 1 extra year in hopes the school would work out for us but it did not. They taught below his level, I felt like I was paying for him to be held back. The teachers were not pleasant at all. I had a bad experience here.
We attended this school for 1 year before I moved my kids, and I did not like it at all. I didn't like the teachers, the academics were just ok. It was not worth the money.
My son started at Montessori almost a year ago. So far we have had a great experience. He is 2 1/2 years old and LOVES!! his school. Teachers are awesome, they really care. We had a previous bad experience in a diferent school and we were relunctant to enter him in any school without doing a good research. I want to thank Miss jackie and Miss Martha from West Teal Room. They are BOTH AMAZING!! I could not be happier. Miss Monica, the Principal is always around and knows all and every kid in school by name. That says a lot. THANKS MONTESSORI!!
Montessori Academy has been an amazing home for my two girls. They both started at age 3 and have learned and advanced tremendously. My oldest one who is now going on Kindergarten is already writing full sentences and reading! They encourage kids to learn, they offer extracurricular activities, encourage music which is a great element! I don't regret a penny spent in school! This is the time to build the grounds and foundation in your children's education.
My daughter has attended this school for two years. Both she and I absolutely love it! I drop her off in the morning with no reservations and 100% peace of mind. I agree with the previous posted that being a part of Montessori Academy is like being a part of a family. In addition, my daughter has learned so much. We are constantly getting comments about how advanced she is!
My two girls go to this school and we love it. Their teachers are excellent. I recomend it 100%.
As an educator myself, I know what to look for in a quality school. Montessori Academy has met and exceeded my expectation s. The teachers on both campuses are professional and caring. They take time to discuss my children's progress and are very knowledgeable about them, their strengths and weaknesses. Many of the teachers have been there for years, a very good sign. The directress knows all the children and parents, and there are hundreds of them. She always addresses any concerns in a polite and friendly manner. My children are both excelling in their programs and are adequately challenged. They have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities in the classroom. Kids can learn karate, flamenco, ballet, orchestra and tumbling after school. The school has hosted many school-wide family activities and parents are made to feel very welcome and appreciated. Montessori Academy is so large for a very good reason, they have many satisfied parents.
This was the worst school experience. My 3 y.o. attended this preschool for two month and in this time we had more problems than in the previous 2 years she has been going to another school. The director expelled her because she is allergic to ant bites and they were biting her in the school's playground. Yes they have ants in the kid s playground biting the kids everyday. They did not want to deal with the situation so they expelled her! That's not all, one day I picked her up from school and her shirt was soaking wet. They didn't change her. On another occasion a child scratched my daughter's face and they did not say anything, no incident report. My daughter was going to this school and they did not ask for her vaccination records. Since the first week my daughter attended this school she was sick. Parents bring their sick children to the school and they do not send them back, so the kids are always sick! After my daughter was spelled they did not return the money I had paid in advanced for that month. I do not recommend this school to anyone! Terrible experience
My 3 1/2 year old goes to this school and we are thrilled with education she has received. We chose this school over traditional daycare because they work with the individual child, wherever they are in their developement and encourage further improvement and forward movement. The staff is professional and I know without a doubt that my child is being taken care of and happy. You can't put a price on that. Yes, it tends to be "click-ish" with the parents, and there are other inconveniences like unexpected costs and way too many no-school days for the younger age groups. However, after evaluating probably all of the preschools/daycares in two two counties, we always decide to stay right where we are. It is very difficult for us to keep her there (cost and commuting time), but it is absolutely worth it. The quality of learning is hands down the best around.
I was really disappointed to see what some parents wrote here. Seemingly prejudicious statements were made to motherswho have their children enrolled at Montessori Academy. I am a mother of 2, a four year old and a 2 year old both ofwhom attend the Montessori Academy. I have a PhD in Psychology and work full-time to support my family. I take offense that those of us who enjoy the features and benefits of the school are merely seeking attention by hvaing our children attend and reap these benefits. I have had no issues with any of the teachers, and find sommunication to be one of the best things about the school. Ms. Monica who is the school's sirector (and owner) knows every child personally by name. Paying tuition has been very flexible.
My experience with my child was a very negative one as well. I also understood, like the other parent who wrote, that their main concern is not the child's well being, but the money. They have very poor communication skills. They need to practice more positive reinforcement with children, especially at the tender ages of 3 and 4, instead of making them feel like they are worthless and bad. The impression I left with from this school was that it was more of a social club for moms seeking attention for themselves rather than for their children.
We also had a negative experience at this school. I also understood that their main focus is NOT the child's well being, but the money. I also notice that it was more of a social club for moms seeking attention for themselves rather than for their child. As long as their children are reciting all of the information which is basically being robotically memorized, all is well for them. God forbid if you have a child who besides memorizing the information wants more, perhaps because his or her needs as a human being are not been fulfilled.
