I love this scool and I have absolutely loved all 3 of the teachers my children have had for (k),(1),(2). And I am also satisfied with the principal Mrs. Vaughn, but i don't like how McArthur is a tad behind on what the children are doing in each grade compared to many other schools around. I have friends and family who have children the same age as mine at Helen Caro, Lipscomb and N. B. Cook. These schools are challenging their children a little bit more than McArthur. I just wish every school around did the exact same thing as far as the learning and school work. That is my only major complaint I have for this school.

Student drop off is unacceptable. If anyone had an emergency while trapped in that line, it could be critical.

My daughter is about to start the first grade at McArthur, and her kindergarten year was all I hoped it would be for her. She is really excited about school, and her teachers are wonderful. Anytime I needed to talk to her teacher all I had to do is call, even at home or her cell. She made sure to make herself available at anytime. The staff and faculty at this school is AMAZING!! So friendly and devoted to the children and parents.

I have to say that I am disappointed in this school and my son's teacher. He was going to a great school in MA then we moved back here and I thought I was putting him in a A school and how wrong I was. I can understand why it got a 6 out of 10 rating.

I have two children at McArthur and we purposely bought our home in district 2 years ago so our oldest could start Kinder there. My sisters went to McArthur too for their elem. careers and it was just as awesome then as it is now. I can't say enough about the parent/teacher communication as well as the welcoming of parent activity in your childs education happenings with this school. Like with anywhere you are going to get mixed reviews/results, and while I have had my 'run-ins' in the last two years with this school, overall we are VERY pleased with our decision to purchase a home in this district to allow our children the BEST public education we could! MUCH props to Mrs. Nelson (K), Mrs Gill (k) and Mrs Bain (1st) - FABULOUS teachers!

2 principal changes in the last three years or so and lots has gone downhill at McArthur. I agree with the parent who is concerned about this school and won't have his/her child in the school next year. Same here!

Offer a lot of candy for achievements. Teacher uses no recess as a class punishment. Low security. (They usually take your ID but they don't monitor it closely. I have went right past without them bothering to look up!) Horribly rude secretary. School has a new principal as of 2008, but she is not prompt about returning phone calls. I'm unimpressed and my child will not attend McArthur next year!
