Headstart is a government funded program for financially underprivileged children. The Organization which started Headstart is called Community Action Council, their mission statement is simply 'To Combat Poverty'. Their hope is aid in the development of these children in hopes to prevent the poverty cycle. It is an exceptional program, and this program is one of the most extensive programs I have worked with in dealing with the appropriate and positive development of children. The child to teacher ratio is the smallest I have seen in my experience, 4 to 1 infants and toddlers, 10 to 1 in preschool age. This helps to ensure that their educational needs are being met. They have a multitude of resources to aid in this process as well.
