I have gone to this school all my life, from kindergarten to 7th grade and this is not a school that any kid should attend. Kids are being thrown around like no one cares, new principal every year, horrible teachers telling kids that they don't believe their student will succeed in life because of their poor grades. Teachers do not even care, one year we had a teacher who seemed normal I used to stay after school with him for extra credit and the next year he quit ben gamla and moved to another school then molested an 11 and 12 year old. Not in a good area, and many druggies. Dress code is awful, uniforms, they tell you what jackets you have to wear. Girls and boys don't have locker rooms they change in a classroom for pe and not allowed to change in a bathroom overall I wouldn't recommend this school.
Another year another principal. Look at the low test scores. Great education / preparation for a future employee of McDonalds or shwarma stand. What goes on for an education is truly sad, and unfortunately most of the parents who keep in this Ben Gamla just do not know any better. Ben Gamla perpetuates ignorance.
Bottom line this school is excellent. This is the best environment for any child that needs personalized attention. The teachers are superb and just want each child to succeed. The Principal cares for every single child's well being and education. Ben Gamla has been the best experience and I recommend to send your children here!! I am a student here and this is my second year attending ben Gamla and i am excited to finish my high school career here.
Step away from this school. While Hebrew is offered the kids are so bad that the teachers quit all the time. We've been hearing the same song and dance how they are turning the school around this year. Notice they have a new principal every year..they cant get it right because they don't know how to vet viable administrators. this school has some issues big time
For parents who want a caring environment for their children, this is a good choice. Less than 100 students and a staff committed to raising the level of achievement for their students. A new principal is working hard to make this a great experience for the students along with a few good, caring teachers. Little in the way of sports or extracurricular activities because it is a very, very small school. For those not aware, Ben Gamlas throughout a few cities in Florida. offer Hebrew as a foreign language and attract a fair number of Jewish and Israeli students. Being a charter school, the parents are committed to assist with field trips, book fairs, volunteering, and financial gifts.
Ben Gamla Charter High School has the distinction of being one of South Florida's smallest high schools with under 100 students. Having opened just two years ago, there is a sense of greatness and improvements to come. The administration and teachers are all striving to bring the best and most caring education to their students
Private School feel. Especially great for students looking to learn HEBREW & coming from private Jewish schools (without hardship of tuition) due to the general Israel feel, majority Jewish students and classes that include HEBREW (3 levels) plus Electives that include a HOLOCAUST class. Additional Judaic learning is available within the JCC (same campus as school). Elementary & Middle school also on site and Principal did a great Job this year and I believe the high school is growing and getting it's own specific principal next year (2013-2014). I also hear students will receive IPADS for school use this year. Highly recommend and would love to see great quality kids continue to grow this "Jewish School of the future".
