I am an alumni (class of 1988) with three elementary age children who attend American Heritage. My family could not be happier. We love that our children are getting the best possible education in a diverse family friendly environment. My children enjoy going to school; I love seeing all of the alumni who work at the school and alumni who send their children to the school. My wife and I know that being exposed to so many different programs (engineering/robotics, marine biology, medicine, math, law, television production, newspaper, theatre, dance, orchestra, visual arts, 70+ clubs, etc.), will help our children find their passion and we know the teachers and guidance counselors will help nurture the passions. We could not be happier and would recommend the school to anyone who asks.
This school motivates without threatening. The teachers are really connected to the students. If you want you're child to be thriving, not to be afraid of making a mistake, this is the school for you're child. The school is open minded (very important for us) where the child still can be a child. Yes, it is expensive, but you as parent and you're child will receive so much. This is a wonderful school.
American Heritage School is AMAZING! There's definitely something for everyone here, and not only are the academics superior but the opportunities available to the students to pursue their passions are unlike any other school in Florida for sure. My children are thriving here and we feel so lucky to be part of the AHS family.
You don't want your child here. The administration smiles to your face and tells you what you want to hear while passing your child along and doing nothing to assist them with being prepared for college. Myself and other parents are trying to have an investigation launched into this program. It feels like we have been taken advantage of and defrauded.
I can't say enough about this school. The teachers are amazing and my son has developed into a truly excellent student. Yes its expensive but work every penny.
The core subjects are in small class sizes and their electives are mainstream which helps them assimilate and get ready for the real world where environment cannot always be accommodated . They have over 60 after school clubs and sports and everyone is included, they can try new things and decide what they or not. The teachers are available after school got tutoring one day a week, and their school website is excellent for teachers and students. You can email teachers easily, see all assignments, grades are posted weekly as they progress, very organized!there are many social and fun events your child can see or participate in.
My children have attended American Heritage since lower school. They had a wonderful experience and now as upper school students are well prepared for college.
As a parent of two graduates of AHS, I could not be happier with the school. My girls learned responsibility, organization in addition to having been exposed to the a rigorous curriculum. The extra-curricular activities are beyond what you will find at any other high school in the area.
American Heritage School is a very unique place. Both of my children are happy there and they are very different children. It is nice to find one place where they can both be challenged and where they can both participate in the activities they love. The school provides students with so many opportunities. The only problem is choosing which things to do!
It is all about money at this school. Not worth the money. The student/teacher ratio is too high for the thousands of dollars that it cost.
Notice March 7th that is when the new Headmaster told her staff to give great ratings. I would ask to see teachers' certifications, the school claims everyone is ESE certified. In the Reading Lab no one is Reading certified yet the teachers are concerned "reading specialist". Unfortunately parents of different learners feel there is no where else to turn and we believe that our children will be successful in this non threatening environment, when really we are putting our children in a place where they feel separated from the "normal" kids at Heritage. Educate yourself parents!
As a parent of two children at AHS (grades 6 and 4), I have found the teachers and staff to be both firm and fair. My children's teachers have been understanding of children in general while encouraging them to continue to grow as students and as people. I am confident that by the time my children graduate from AHS they will be prepared for the rigors of college.
This school is extremely pregidous... They are extremely selective... And, will soon be sued for DISCRIMINATION.
I am a parent of an American Heritage graduate and a member of the faculty. I can honestly say I could never find a better place to work and you will never find a better school for your child. Where else could you find a school that is outstanding in academics, fine arts, and athletics; all three areas are tops. Everyone who works here truly cares about the best for every child. My child was a success in college and is a success as an adult, and I can attribute much of that success to American Heritage. Enrolling in this school is like joining a family.
Having three children, it is difficult to find a school that can meet the needs of three very different personalities with very different strengths and challenges. We chose American Heritage for our children because they promised they could meet the needs of all of our children, and they have made good on their promise! Our children are happy and well-rounded. We are very pleased with American Heritage and would recommend this school without reservation.
I have been a parent at American Heritage for 10 years . My experience as well as my children's has been phenomenal. The level of academics and fine arts that the children are not only exposed to,but encourage to participate in are exceptional. We feel very blessed to be part of the Heritage family and look forward to many more successful years with this school.
I have been a parent at AHS for the last 10 years. AHS's excellent teachers, strong academics, and challenging curriculum have provided my children with an outstanding top education. Their superior program in the arts, such as the orchestra has given my children the opportunity to belong to an award winning fine arts program, while developing strong leadership qualities. My children look forward to joining the Pre-Med and Pre-Engineering Pre-Professional programs, to continue with their community service organizations, and many of their wonderful clubs. As a parent you want to give your children the best. There is no doubt in my mind that AHS is the best school for my children. We are truly happy and very proud to belong to such an amazing and wonderful school.
The Academy has a new Headmaster. She is about as knowledgeable and caring as they come. The children come first.
I am a graduate of AHS and I can honestly say that my experience at the school was amazing. I started in 6th grade and graduated in 2006. The teachers were phenomenal. I believe that this school pushes its students to do their best and really nurtures talent and a love for academics. I felt incredibly well prepared for college. I wish I could've started earlier and had my elementary education here. I definitely preferred my private school education, than my public school experience. I was never an athletic student, but I made the best of my time at school by getting involved with yearbook and various clubs. The student body was diverse and friendly. I love this school, the teachers definitely inspired me, and always remember my years here fondly.
American Heritage refuses to release my graduating daughter's academic transcripts, thereby preventing her from applying for admission to university. I have had 5 of my children attend the American Heritage since 2006. Now, in June 2012, after my daughter already graduated, the school has refused to release her transcripts, thereby preventing her from attending university, even though her tuition has been paid in full. Since, a balance remains on the tuition bills of her two younger brothers, American Heritage refuses to release her transcript unless and until the bills of her siblings are paid in full. I offered to pay the remaining balance for the two boys ($5,000) within 2 weeks, but the school business office in Delray Beach refuses to release my daughter's transcript. Instead, the school's business office sent me today a credit card authorization form, for the entire $5,000 balance, for immediate payment. It is hard to believe that this so called college preparatory school is purposefully preventing a graduate from attending college or university
