I am so happy here at Somerset. The teachers really care and the principal, Dr Kaye is outstanding. There is zero tolerance for bullies and the students MUST abide by this policy as well as a strict code of conduct, or else they receive a referral. Three referrals and you are not invited back to the school. That's a very good thing! This is a Broward county public school, but its also a charter school which means any one can addend, but there is a lottery. and they require parent involvement, which I think is great. It is a small school and goes to grade 8, and a high school is in the future. Best school around by far.

Terrible administration at this particular location. Principal is a fake. Curriculum is definitely lacking. Corporate should intervene.

My step-grandson, Tristan, will be attending Somerset/Pompano this year as a first grader. I attended the open house last night and was very impressed with the principal and Ms. Norland, my grandson's first grade teacher. My grandson attended Pompano Beach Elementary School last year and had a very good year. He was voted "most enthusiastic" pupil in his class. However, it was a little scary for him at first as it is a big school and was a big change from his pre-school environment. I think switching to Somerset, with its smaller classes and excellent staff, will prove to be an excellent decision.

We moved down from up north and had a bad experience at the first school we put our children in. When Somerset opened up we figured it could not be any worse and we would not have to pay to get a second rate education for our children. I am so pleased with our decision to put them in somerset. All of the teachers are incredible. The teachers have gone above and beyond to make sure they have worked up to their ability. The principal knows every childs name and who they are. I could not have asked for a better school or staff. Thank you for inspiring mychildren to want to learn again.

I love this school!!! My son attends Kindergarten at Somerset Pines and I have to say, I have not seen a more organized and family oriented environment. My sons teacher is always emailing and letting me know of all and anything that is going on in class, which I think is amazing. She is very hands on and focused on the children, as is the principle and rest of staff. I praise God for having a great school for my son to attend!

Somerset Pines Academy has made it through it's first year. For the most part the school did well. There are still some areas that need to be addressed, such as food quality & service, the after school program content (homework help & supervision), student behavior (bullying) and consequences and staff follow through for issues that are discussed and decided on. My daughter and I were very happy with the quality, energy and caring of her teacher. I have enrolled her again for the new year and will again be an active participant in the PTSO at the school. I am hopeful that the issues that were not fully worked through in our first year will be dealt with completely in the second year of school. I know that there are many parents that are more than happy to help in anyway they can it they are asked. There is a parental contract of 30 volunteer hours that must be met for student enrollment at the school.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
