When my son graduated from Blanche Ely he had 125 collage credits. Do you knew any private school giving that opportunity? Not even if you pay. In 11&12 grade he was attending BCC and Atlantic university, all that for free, thanks to public school system. He has BS/MS from Stanford university. After that he worked for 4 years at private equity firm. Today he is at Harvard university doing his MBA. Thank you Blanche Ely for challenging academic program. My son favorite " there is not bad schools only bad students"

The staff at this school is not only incompetent, but have very poor speaking and communicating skills. As a graduate of Blanche Ely High School, I have experienced first hand inappropriate behavior, not only from the teachers, but also from the administration. This school is very understaffed and many of the over-worked and over-stressed administrators do not pay attention to the students and their needs. As a former senior of this school, I struggled on a daily basis to recieve transcripts to apply for college and scholarships. I only met with my guidance counselor once for the whole entire year. I had no support nor any help in getting prepared for my collegiate transition. Contrary to the "no student left behind" motto, many students from this school has been left behind.
I think Blanche Ely high is the best school I know after harvard. I personetly think that this school is a great learning, well managed school.

Blanche Ely High School is an excellent school in academics and extra-curriculum events. Principal, Karlton O. Johnson has empowered the community and school to the next level of academic achievement. The faculty and staff are nurturing and loving and instill in the students hope and challenging experiences. My child has developed into a professional, assertive and outstanding student. I am proud of the BEHS Spirit and recommend this school of tradition and hertiage to all parents for the magnet and regular program for your child or children.

So before you dont send your child to that school dont base it on what other people say about the school that have not even experinced it, go to the school and learn bout. And i love being a blanche ely tiger.

I personally attended BEHS, and it was a fantastic and very enjoyable experience. When I graduated Dr. Wright was the principal and he was excellent. He cared about each and every student there, not just about their education but about their overall safety, emotional feelings and general well being. The teachers were great and the FCAT scores improved a great deal. BEHS is an excellent school not just for sports but academics as well. The medical science magnet program is the best. People who think negative about the school obviously don't know. The staff is there to support, help, encourage, and teach students. Parents with complaints usually have the problem kids and only show up when there kids are about to be or have already been dismissed from school and in my opinion they should have been there from the start. You can't blame not excelling in school on anyone but your child.

The quality of academics is excellent which begins with the pricipal and the staff at Ely High. The Magnet and the LCA(Learning Community Academy Program) is exceptional. The program and the general program are going far beyond the needs of the students in assisting them to excell. The afterschool tutoring programs for FCAT music, sports, chorus and the arts are excelling to its apex. I am involved in promoting the quality of education as a parent volunteer in communicating the needs to the community organizations and parents on a weekly base. Attending school board meetings and community meetings. The teachers are caring, loving and have the interest of the students as if they were their own biological children. Congratulations to all of you.

This school has an excellent magnet program and the teachers were very helpful while my child attended there, however, I was worried about the issue of safety for my child so I ended up enrolling him in another school later in the year.

I personally attended Ely and graduated in 2002 and it was the greatest learning experience I have ever encountered. I only went there for 2 years but I learned more there than at the private catholic high school CGHS that cost a ton of money to attend. Thanks to Ely I was able to intern in the field of sports management, that I am now pursuing in college and my resume looks better and I have more job opportunities than others in my field. This is just one plus there are so many I could go on forever. If you want an education for your child that will payoff in the future then go to Ely, they will open the doors of opportunity for your child. -Andrew c/o 02'

I think Blanche Ely High has an outstanding Medical Sciences program. This school provides many afterschool activities that student can join instead of wasting time watching t.v. or getting mixed up with drugs. There is alot of parent involvement at Blanche Ely.

I found the Administration of Ely High school was very unhelpful when it came to any problems. I had to call the School board to get any help at all. I found myself sitting in front of the Vice principal every week, only to get no where. After scheduling an appointment 2 weeks in advance, leaving work early to get to the meeting only to sit there for 30 miniutes waiting for the teachers. 2 out of four teachers din't even showed up for the meeting, I requested all teachers be present. I thank GOd my child no longer goes to that school. Teachers and guidence counclers all feel the children should take what ever they dish out and be ok with that. I do not feel because you are a teacher you are free to say or do what ever you want to students. The children are entitled to their rights.
