Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My son is a Kindergarten student here and absolutely loves it. ms ramonas has the students absolutely loving school, He cries if he ever has to stay home. The other day my little baby was home reading a book, i was in tears, i couldn't believe he went from nothing to reading in less than a year. Teachers like Ms R make all the difference in the world for these kids and their futures in school.

My school has been great since I was in kindergraden and they have some mean teachers. But there was a very mean teacher she was so mean to me and I did not talk at all that year to her. I was scared that she would call my mom for no reason at all. she would always pick on me and I cryed in the shower every day at home because of her. she was my third grade teacher she wantedme to fail so badly that she did not teach me my times tables and to this day I still do not know my 6s 7s or 8s!

I would't recommend this school to any parent! Some teachers are combative, abrupt & lack compassion, My daughter started August, 2013, to begin Middle school. She's very shy & has been an honor roll student, since kindergarden. Her first week at school was a disaster! Her form teacher ridiculed & humiliated her for forgetting her belt on the 2nd day of school! She shouted at her in front of the whole class, as well as taking her sweater in exchange for a belt! This incident was never reported to me by my daughter's Form Teacher or Principle, by way of formal letter or even a phone call home. This is one of 6 incidents that has occured in the past 2 1/2 weeks of school starting! I requested a meeting with both teachers to discuss my concerns & grevances. The principle call me back, but my complaint fell on deaf ears! Instead of addressing the issues to come to a solution, she invited me to take a tour of the school! How ridiculous! It's how my daughter has been treated! My daughter's Gym teacher selected her for "Super Student!" So she's not the problem evidently! I asked the School board 4 a transfer 2 a better school & was informed I'm 1 of many Manatee parents with this request!

My stepdaughter has been attending this school for 2 years now and, if it were up to me, she would not still be going to this school. I think it's very mediocre. I agree with hardly ever seeing any homework come home. She struggles a lot in math and science and after attempting to contact her teachers about this and receiving really no response, it's now getting close to the end of the school year and she's struggling in both areas. I would say for her 2 years of being there so far, the best teacher seems to be her band teacher!

Very disappointed in this school. The school gives little to no homework because parents complained about 'too much' homework. This school does not push children to learn to their full potential i.e. getting straight A's on their report cards. Instead this school offers an A/B honor roll so students with a low B or all B's and one A can be on the A/B honor roll. That does not inspire greatness, it inspires mediocrity!!

The administration of this school is below standards. They do not help parents. Even though the school proclaims to not stand for bullying, they do nothing to stop it or to help the victims. They do not back up their teachers. Some children who struggle are not given help even when a parent asks (or begs). My child has been attending this school for 3 years and it has not improved. As for moving to a different school; they are all bascially the same in Port St. Lucie. The schools just want to get the right numbers so the can get their money.

Manatee has a wonderful, caring staff that with which I am happy to be involved. Students are treated with respect and equally, while being recognized for their uniqueness.

Kindgergarten is an introduction to school for all children and I'm afraid my child has been through 2 kindergarten teachers that are in my opinion below level and inadequate. The principals office doesn't retun calls unless you make several and become irate and demanding. Very disappointed and my child is lucky to have been invited to the new charter lab school for 1st grade where he will actually receive the attention and encouragement that will make him want to excel.

We moved here last year from a town about the size of Manatee! My daughter started Kindergarten and adapted very quickly. Within a few short weeks, most of the staff new her by name and made her feel very comfortable. Her teachers have been wonderful and there is great communication from the school. Her teachers have gone above and beyond to make sure she is stimulated and challenged. The principals are terrific! They are the first ones you see in the morning and are always willing to answer questions and address concerns. They give the children a lot of praise and reward them for good behavior. It's a great community from school secretary all the way up! Meredith Norkus

Hi. I am a seventh grade student at Manatee Academy. I came to this school from CA. It is overall a good school. This is the first year that they have allowed middleschool students to (grades 6-8) attend. The middle school building is brand new which is great. The elementary school building is old, but my four brothers go there and they say it isn't bad. The principals here are really good. They have good programs here. So far they have had dance team, cheerleading, soccer, and step team. The middleschoolers only get to pick one elective, you choose from Band, Art and P.E. The Band teacher, Ms. Thomas, is really good. There is a strict dress code it is: Collared shirt (must be tucked in), belt must be on. Hope this helps! Jan. 25, 2007

We moved here from another state. Excellent school the one year my son was there. Mrs. Smith was an awesome teacher. My son loved learning in her class. School needs another system for parents picking up their children after school. You need to get there way in advance, and can go as far as down the street and around the corner. We've moved away and my son will miss this school very much.

I have been very satisified with this school. The teachers and staff are very child oriented. Both of my children have attended or are currently attending Manatee. It is well worth the wait if you have to be put on a waiting list!

Manatee Elementary teachers sure know how to motivate kids to learn. They should be used to set an example of what schools should be doing. Any parent who enrolls their child will see their child grow academically and social/emotionally. They are simply put, The Best.
