Western Academy Charter School

I really like the school and all the personal, I think everybody is involve and is a great school, the only thing I think can improve is when they have field trips, should be more organize, I thing would be better to have a bus to take the kids and not parents driving.

I really liked this school in the beginning. It is small and nice. However, there seems to be a secret prejudice going on there. There is diversity but some students are treated different from others. There is no rhyme or reason its random. My child is an excellent student academically. This student gets singled out from others for certain things while others are doing the same. The ladies in the office has not been nice either. My child has been told not to ask any questions about why this is happening, or detention will be imposed. It's been a very bad experience. The teachers do not help and they get defensive. The principal is also not helpful at all. I would not recommend this school. It needs to be investigated by the Board.

My kids love this school! We are so happy. Thank you very much WACS for everything you do for my kids!!! This school has an excellent staff. Very caring and understanding people. We feel like we are family here. A wonderful principal who seems to know everyone. She is always involved and I like that very much. We like the small class sizes. I wish you great success!

In LOVE with this school and the staff. Mrs Terranova is "old school" principal style. She is very involved in the daily activities of the school and knows each and every student and parent by name. My kids have absolutely thrived here and I wouldn't have sent them anywhere else. The teachers are caring, patient, and truly concerned about their students. There is a reason there is a waiting list a mile long to get in. If your child is one of the lucky ones that gets a spot, you will not be disappointed!

Excellent teacher quality and parent envolvement. Principal is very involved and knows the kids by name. She really cares about the students. She is fair and treats the studnets with respect. I will also send my 4 year old to this school next year.

I have two kids in this school and they both love it. They don't have to worry about bullying or feeling left out. The teachers and the principal know the kids by name and really care about the kids and what they are learning. They are an A school and it shows.

I love this school. I am a 7th grader and i wish i could stay until i leave high school. the people are so cool and the teachers are involed and care about you. There are not maney problems and never fights. it is a school where you can feel safe. It is fun to go to school. I am getting better grades than i ever thought i could get the teachers always wasnt to help.

Absolutely love this school! This is our first year and we love it. The school's outside appearance is not the best but the inside and what goes on inside is amazing. The teacher's are great and care about the kids!

This school is awesome! My son started off in a large middle school had friends, and in a great neighborhood, however, he was only a number, slipping through the system. We were referred to this charter which was highly recommended by our old public school and we realized very quickly that we were 'lucky' to get in as there's usually a wait list. The teachers are special to all of us, & my son is special to them as all the kids are. My son was happy in the regular middle school, but now he is 'really' happy and said he never wants to go back to his old school, he LOVES this school. They have changed him, made him feel special. The kids are good and there no seen peer pressure. They are all friends. We are so greatful. I plan to write a compliment letter to the district.

This school is great! this year they just have added extra-curricular activities such as after school sports team, dance team and newsletter club. Academics is very close to most public schools(in the middle school)... Overall I am very pleased. :)

This school is great. My kids have flourished since coming to this school. The teachers take the time to get to know the kids on a personal level so they can know their strengths and weaknesses. My child is in the middle school, and he has never done better. The teachers challenge the kids to work to their potential. They are even required to take algebra in 8th grade. There don't seem to be many discipline problems. There aren't many extracurricular activities because the school is so small. All I know is that my kids were lost in the crowd at the public school. When they transfered here, they have changed their grades and their attitudes at home. The kids that go there are expected to be responsible and there are no discipline problems. The teachers have even given their home phone numbers out! That's never happened to us before.

I find Western Academy to be a great learning experience for my child. All new schools have their ups and downs, but my two children have flourished. My oldest is in the middle school and loves it, as does my youngest who is in kindergarten. The teachers are very knowledgeable and will help in any way possible. It is a small setting so everyone knows each other. The teachers stay with the kids for three years. This allows them to really get to know your child. The classes are very small, and the teachers really work with the kids. My middle school child even has his teachers' home phone numbers, cell phone numbers, and email addresses. We get notified about everything so communication is great. They do have a PE program, but there are not many extracurricular activities. The curriculum goes well above what is required by the district.

I am extremely pleased with the discipline, curriculum, and treatment that my child has been awarded with. He has excelled extremely and I couldn't ask for more as far as the staff is concerned. I give this school 100% rating.

I am satisfied with my childrens educational progress at Western Academy. The schools method of teaching has allowed both my children to acheive the honor roll each marking period. All the teachers there are great and are very interested in each childs learning process. The school offers small classrooms which allows for more one on one, and bases its curriculum on the project child program. They offer art, music, karate and other things as additional learning. It is a very good school.

The K-2 teacher cluster was great! I hope my child excels the same with the 3-5 teacher cluster. Middle school needs a bit more focus on keeping teachers there. Science department experienced three different teachers in one year. Would like to see the students have homework sent home daily! Not enough reinforcement. All in all, however, the school seems decent.
