an excellent school with great teachers and team. the school rewards students for good works and the teachers motivate the children towards success even with their personal funds. At first parent discouraged me from sending my kid there because of location. I am glad i allowed my daughter to follow her heart. she insisted she wanted the school. we had not regretted her choice of Sanford middle, because its a school for the starts if you really want to be a star .very proud of all the teachers, staffs and parents who give their time always love SMS

I am a student here at sanford middle and despite being in an uncomfortable neighborhood, its a great school. their science electives are great, i have had 3 high school courses, and the teachers are great (99% of the time) my only problem is the deans are too worried about catching bad kids that they sometimes will make false accusations against innocent ones but it normally turns out fine in the end but it should not worry you. this school should definitely stand out if your in seminole county. mellenium milwee and south seminole may be great but sanford is the best.
Awesome school, great programs! The teachers really want the students to succeed, and work with them! I had a lot of fun when i was there, and i learned a lot more then i would have at another school.
This is an excellent school with rigorous programs. Excellent teachers and very good web based communication tools like black board which includes course information, homework help, course materials in various formats like power point, various web links etc. My 6th grade daughter, with little motivation, works on her own. The entire school management rewards students frequently on quarterly basis to motivate achieving students to do even better. Great pre-IB programs and useful real life electives. I rate this school A+ !

As the parents of a 6th grader in the Pre-IB program we are very pleased with the quality of the education that he is receiving as well as the educators at this school. The workload can be challenging but managed correctly our son has been able to achieve a 4.0 including such wonderful electives as Marine Biology, Aeronautics, Spanish, Golf as well as the additional advanced requirements. If your child is willing to put in the hard work, the rewards and preparation for the future are like no other middle school in the county. Incredible teachers that comunicate on a weekly basis with the parents to insure the success of the student. As parents what else could we ask for?

The school is amazing! My son is in Pre IB and has had the opportunity to take Pre-Med, Engineering, Biotech to name a few in his 6th grade year! Next year he hopes to take Aeronautics and advanced courses in Medicine and engineering. If more schools were like SMS- we would have an amazing impact on future leaders! Mark Russi and his team do a great job! We are getting a Private school education without the cost- but wait- what Private School in Semionle County has Pre Med, Pre Vet, Biotech or engineering?? None I know of. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

There are some administors that take their job a little to seriously. They need to give their students their personal space. Also there are so teachers that have a little bit of a temper over little things that dont matter. Not saying that education isn't important but there are somethings that won't really effect your life or educaton. This is my last year here at Sanford Middle.I am in all Pre-IBclasses,I do take my work seriously. We also need to have more fundrasiers. Ithink it will help the school alot. Considering that we have students that need tutorial and can't go because of the activity buses being stopped. This will cause student to fall behind because the are stuck in a certain area of difficulty. We also need the teams back.Since the teachers cant talk among themselves. They end up giving us test and big projects due the same day.

My son attended Sanford Middle for 3 years and loved it there. He had a difficult time adjusting initially, but got a lot of support from his teachers, his Guidance Counselor and Mrs. Henry. Communication was really good and I felt like my son got the support he needed for SLD. Last year the Guidance Dept secretaries either ignored me or were really rude. That sets a bad tone for the school, but when you get past them, it's not bad.

This is my son's first year at Sanford middle school. I am very pleased with all of his teachers and the staff. He started off a little rough with his classes but thanks to the communication between teachers and parents it has gotten a lot better.

My son is currently attending Sanford Middle. He has great teachers and he is very happy with the wide range of elective choices available. He is in the Pre-IB program and although it is challenging, he has earned straight A's all year. You can't ask for better than that!

Some of the teachers on the Starblazers team aren't the typical teachers. They give too much homework, but they make the lessons stick. In Pre-IB, Mrs. McLean pushes us hard, but dude, it's Pre-IB! It's preparing us for like high school. Pre-Algerbra is a lot easier than i thought it would be, but sometimes tough in a good way.

The teachers on the Pegasus team were excellent. They promote academic success and will work with both student and parent. The staff are also wonderful. I don't know about parental involvement overall but Sanford Middle is an excellent school.

My son is in his second year of the Pre-IB Program at this school. I have been pleased with several aspects of his education. The communication between parent and teacher is far superior to that which we received in New York. The school has a good band program with an instructor who was an alumna . Most of his teachers have been innovative and have stimulated my son with the joy of learning. The student population is very diverse and is more of a representation of the real world than some of the other schools in the district. All of my son's friends come from different backgrounds and ethnicities. If attending this school I would suggest putting your child into the Pre-IB program. We do not live in the area but the district busses my son to the school. The school has not dissappointed my husband or I.

This school is a good math and science tach. school that really prepares children for the high school life and it really helps get them ready for the FCAT, with and ove aveage passing rate. My daughter really exceeded well academically at this school. The student to teacher ratio is very good also, with an average of 23 students to one teacher.

Sanford is a Math, Science and Technology Middle School. Students from the entire county have the opportunity to attend. They begin to accept application forms in December. SMS utilizes a lottery system to decide who is accepted to the school (other than the people who are zoned for the school). SMS offers Pre-International Baccalaureate classes with such electives as pre-aeronautics, pre-engineering, pre-vet, pre-med, pre-architecture along with many others. SMS has a flight simulator through NASA. The principal (Bill Gibson), faculty, and staff are outstanding! Support from parents and PTSA is tremendous! At last years SCCPTA dinner, SMS PTSA won many awards. Students win an abundance of awards both academically and athletically. I am so thrilled that my son has had the opportunity to attend SMS. He's now in his third year of learning to fly an airplane on the flight simulator.
