It was my sons choice in the middle of 3rd grade to go to this school and he loves it. The teachers are awesome. I get an e-mail every week with spelling words and what will be covered ( 5h grade). Three are so many dedicated teachers - the clubs/activities he is in or has been in are robotics, SECME, running, chess, patrol boy, news crew, and I am sure i missed a couple. He does not want to leave to go to middle school. His grades and FCAT test scores have improved each year. The advanced curriculm is fantastic. His favorite teacher Mr Finkle is a math teacher this would not have happened 3 years ago at Heathrow

Goldsboro is a fantastic school in many ways!!! The teachers and support staff are THE BEST, the diversity of students represents the USA not just the local neighborhood where the students live, seeing how and where other children live has expanded my children's reality and has better prepared them for their future, the special services for kids with special needs are so valued. We have 3 boys at the school and our daughter will also attend starting in 2015. We drive 25 minutes 1-way so our kids can attend and our kids love going to school everyday!!!! Goldsboro and its students would really put any additional funds so great use.

Goldsboro Elementary Magnet School in Sanford, Florida is a magnet school for science, technology and math. Students from around Seminole County Florida apply to attend. From the PTA to the safety patrol, involvement is awesome. Students recite and live the GEMS STARS pledge daily: Stay Safe, Think Before you Act, Accept Responsibility, Respect everyone and everything, Strive for Success. The morning announcements keep everyone informed and fit! There are many clubs to participate in: Fit Club, Lego Robotics, Garden Club, Odyssey of the Mind, SEME, Goldsboro Sound.

Goldsboro Elementary is an Amazing place to go to school! My child enjoys participating in the many extra activities the school has to offer such as Fitness Club, Lego Club, Odyssey of the Mind, Chorus and many more! The teachers are caring and the leadership of the school is as well. This school focuses on teaching students to be well rounded and the school even has a working student garden where classes sprout, grow and harvest their own vegetables! Mrs. Hess, the Science Lab teacher, heads up Fitness Club and the student garden. We have an "A" rated neighborhood school but drive our child 20 minutes each way twice a day so he can attend Goldsboro. The PTA is outstanding as well. A committed group of parents who work for the good of the school, teachers and students!

Math and Science Magnet school Excellent teachers, and an excellent front office staff. Ms. Garcia and Mrs. Green are so caring and thoughtful. Grade K was very hard for my daughter due to separation anxiety and they did everything possible to smooth the transition from 1/2 day preK to full time school. This year as a first grader she is like an old pro. Ms. Buffington is "the best teacher ever" according to my daughter. This is my son's 5th year at Goldsboro. He loves the school too. He speaks so highly about the staff there, esp. his favorite teacher, Mr. Finkle!

This year is the first time both of our children are attending Goldsboro Elementary Magnet School (GO GEMS!). We are very happy with both of our kids' teachers..they are kind, observant, disciplined yet fair, and intelligent people. You can tell that they really want to be there and enjoy their work. The parents at this school are very involved and the overall feeling we get from the school is that your kids are safe and cared for and that their education is a top priority at GEMS. We love our school and the staff at Goldsboro.

I first want to say that this school has by far exceeded my expectations. Their attention to the success of each and every student is amazing. The front desk is staffed by Ms. Garciga who is exactly the type of person you want to have as your first impression. She is not only excellent at her job but does it in a way that shows her compassion for the students and parents. The principals are great as well. Just sitting back and watching their interactions with students helps you as a parent to feel at ease knowing that your children are in good hands. Now, I would like to talk about Ms. McNeal. She is a kindergarten angel. She is the most amazing educator. She not only teaches the children the tools necessary to be successful but does it in a way that makes each child feel loved, cared about, and very special. Each every morning when I drop my son off at GEMS, I feel that he is being well cared for by people who love what they do and who have his best interest in mind. Thank you GEMS staff for making this 1st time experience one that we will never forget!!!

Goldsboro is a fantastic school, one of the best in the state. There is a long waiting list for this school, and we are so glad our child got in. As a math & science magnet, students have access to unique space, science and technology enrichment activities. But it is not just for science whiz kids - the language arts are also top notch and I've been impressed by the literacy teachers. Goldsboro recently won the 2011 Reading Leadership Team of the Year for the whole state of Florida. They set high expectations for students and challenge them to do their best. My child is happy and excited about school. Choosing Goldsboro was the best decision. Keep up the great work!

GEMS has a tremendous staff and faculty. The PTA is very involved. The emphasis on math, science and technology is incredible, but the arts aren't left out either. The student body has an inclusive, friendly vibe. The campus is very secured - the staff is well versed on keeping it that way. We are so glad to have chosen and been accepted by GEMS!

I love this school my son went there K-5 and is a gifted student. I have two other sons also attending. I love that they don't push cursive writing since it's now obsolete, however I would love to have them learn to type. The school administration and teachers are the best. I highly recommend Ms. Bemiller and Ms. M. Brown.

I removed my sons from a A+ school that failed in teaching my gifted son. He was labeled as slow when he was just thinking outside the box...Goldsboro actually took the time to get to know him and tested him and surprise...he is gifted & was just bored of the stay within the box teaching approach of the previous school. Thank god for this magnet school!

I Highly Recomend Goldsboro Elementary Magnet School. My oldest daughter went k-5th & my youngest daughter k-3d (will be there through 5th).This is the Best possible education, students far surpass area schools in behavior & academics. They teach above grade level to my delight, the children have fun learning & love it.Fire Drills best I've ever seen.Space Lab/Mars Walk is Fantastic, complete with uniforms & robot. My oldest very good with computers, helps me.Few problems:children sit on floor, snakes on campus/never bitten,no talking/lunch,pass out candies/some possible choking hazard, limited playground equipment/limited recess,k not always in summer program & don't teach cursive writing.

The whole family loves Goldsboro! Here are a few of the reasons: Goldsboro Elementary has the extra resources to teach every student at their learning level, reaching the highest as well as the lowest. From the extra reading, math and science coaches, math, science and space labs, computers and software available, small class sizes, dedicated teachers, principal and staff, art and music rooms, and the wonderful children's literature that fills the school, it is no wonder Goldsboro is the learning community that it is.

Both my son and daughter attended Goldsboro Elementary over the last 6 years. It is a good school, with caring teachers and adminstrators. In fact, we have had some absolutely great teachers. However, I feel that its luster has slipped since Mr Nathan, the principal, left. I also think the preponderance of below average students, many of which come from broken or dysfunctional families, has an effect of dragging down other children. I was disappointed in the level of parental involvement. It seemed as though the only parents involved were the once of children that were doing well (hmm, go figure).

My children have attended Goldsboro for two years. I was very impressed with the school and what they had to offer my children. My children made better grades here and wanted to go to school. I reccomend this school and suggest you take a tour of the school to see for yourself.

This school not only teaches the required state curriculum but also teaches the magnet one. Students learn by hands on projects which for my child, was wonderful. The school is heavy on discipline and is surely needed for some of the students but can be too much for sensitive children. Overall, my child did very well and will attend again next year.
