i was blessed to have been a student of this school and now having a son of my own and now reside in scottsdale, az i was my son was able to attend the sanibel school.
My nephew moved here during the school year from out of state. (November) He had a hard time at first, especially with math, as the standards here are challenging. He did get extra help, however, both in and after school. He then did well on the FCAT.
The Principal is caring, understanding, and un-biased. The teachers are excellent in edcation and communication. My children have attended top rated private schools across the country and nothing in comparison to the compassion and highest learning abilities in this school. Thank you Sanibel School Staff and Principal VonHarten for your excellence in communication and education!
I can't wait to return to another successful year at this great school! I wouldn't choose to work at any other school under any other leadership and with any other students!
The Sanibel School has won the national blue ribbon award twice. The school is always in the top 3 of Lee County schools and in the top ten in the state of Florida.
Blue Ribbon excellence, where all children thrive
Beautiful school campus, lots of technology and top notch equipment; all bought by parents in the community. My only wish is that the 'caring, nurturing learning community, where all children thrive' really existed. This is the school motto, but it is not happening here.
Over the years, I have worked at many schools as a guidance counselor. My time at The Sanibel School has been, by far, the best experience! I have to work hard, and there is plenty to do but a good educator realizes that it's for the students that we put forth this effort. I suppose I could gripe about my earlier years at the school when it seemed that the community did not want to accept me there. It took time for them to trust me and I understand that now. I do my best to help all the children and their families. Do I fall short? I am sure that I do at times. I'm not perfect. Yet, each day when I cross the causeway both coming to and leaving school, I thank God that I work at such a special place and hope to continue for years to come!
The Sanibel School is a excellent school. It saddens me to read all the negative feed back. I have four children at the Sanibel School, one with a learning disability and I never in the nine years at the school felt that we were pushed out! In fact the total opposite! My child has succeeded in a very challaging high school on the account of being pushed and challenge by the Sanibel School. Parents are very involved in the school and not only in fund raising! I in fact have volunteered many years in the classroom at many different grade levels. I just don't feel I need to toot my own horn about doing so, I do it for the kids! The way I see it take your kids out if you don't like the school and quit complaining! In life not everything is handed to you on a silver platter!
Safe, caring, learning environment with small classes and great staff in a beautiful environment.
