I was in the IB program and had an immensely rewarding time in high school. IB students and teachers are great, passionate people to be around.

I am a parent of a 10th grade IB student. We gave been very impressed with the quality of the educators and rigorous, challenging academics. Based on college acceptances of recent graduates, I feel my son will be well - prepared to continue his education at the next level. There are also many opportunities for extracurricular activities like clubs, sports and music. Love the school spirit too!

This school is NOT a "great-school" at all and believe me when I tell you. My child came home crying every day. The school grade may be good , but teacher-student interaction is unsatisfactory. Also, the children in the school, bully . Ive had 3 children attend this school, and they all came back with bad reports. One of my children went to Boca Ciega High , and came back with better and higher spirits then what she has now. I do admit there is alot of school spirit , but they should focus more on academics then sports.

I am currently in the IB program so I cant comment on traditional schooling, but this is an amazing school. I highly recomend IB to anyone considering it. It is challenging but the teachers are very involved and it is difficult to fail as long as one wants to be there. Most of the teachers are alumni so they understand what the students are facing, and most of them are youngso they still remeber what its like to be a student. There is a lot of discussion in class and the teachers treat the students like equals, which makes the students more likely to listen and retain the information being given. There are almost no problems that I have with this school after 2 years of attendence

If you are in IB, the teacher and admin support is wonderful. However, the 'regular' (honors) program things aren't so great. Students with high GPAs (and are in honors) that have boarderline Stanine scores are being discourage from taking additional honors or AP classes. (They are literally being placed back into regular level classes by their counselors.) Parent involvement needs to be monitored. Meaning too many over zealous parents take low level jobs at the school so they can obtain sponsor seats or coaches seats to ensure their child will make a club or a sport. Many complaints are being lodge but falling on deaf ears. Safety inside the school appears to be fine. However, outside is a different story. Cars are being broken into and stolen. Unfortunately the new principal is more talk than action. I'm not sure she holds the qualities a high school environment needs.

St Pete High is in the top 25 schools in the nation. There is so much school spirit and parent involvement and the overall quality of this school is excellent. You could not asked for a better principal, Mrs. Linda Benware is perfect for this school and the parents and students love her.

I myself graduated from this school in 2000. The majority of the faculty was supportive and helpful. I have observed a lack of control over students in the classroom, though many changes have been made over the past few years to improve this. I recieved a high quality education and would recomend the school to fellow parents based on the respect and quality attention that I recieved from teachers. The staff is very helpful and does their best to teach under the circumstances they do.

The principal has a positive leadership style which motivates students, teachers and parents to work toward creating a safe environment and encouraging highest student achievement. She has worked to coordinate with local colleges to provide dual enrollment courses for students with interest in concentrated areas beyond that offered in the school curriculum. In this inner city school, the staff is working to increase expectations of all students so that all students will be expected to take honors courses, Advanced Placement courses or be in the highly rated International Baccalaureate program. The extracurricullar activities are numerous, varied and well attended.
