This is a great school. The teachers and principle are dedicated to the children. My daughter has attended for a couple of years now and she loves it. I love how it has a little school house feel too. The fund raisers are just the same as other schools in my opinion. They are by no means exhausting. This is a traditional school and that goes as well for their plays and such. The principle is just lovely and very classy. The studies are very good. The children are watched like hawks too. Which I like!

I highly recommend this school, both for academics and atmosphere. Each of my children began pre-school here and attended as far as the grades allowed. Each have been exceptionally prepared for classes/schools taken after graduating. The school offers more of a family and protected atmosphere. The environment is small enough that each teacher spends quality time with the students and grows to truly care for these students as they watch them grow up. The faculty as a whole grasps what it means to classically train the students to be virtuous scholars. My children have prospered both spiritually and academically because of attending this school.

The school has been shrinking and it is due to lack of an effective and fair principal, as well as uncertified teachers. Unfortunately, the principals ego has doomed this school. She does not get that authority figures are not leaders. Leadership is a choice, not a rank. There is no leadership at this school. No one to partner with you to encourage your childs growth, and advocate for them. The bad teachers will never be at fault, no matter the circumstance, as the school can not afford to lose a teacher, but that are more than willing to lose a student. The good teachers, and there are some, keep this place afloat. . The school has no PTA and wants limited parent interaction, as we might actually figure out that we all have the same complaints. And, as a previous reviewer said, if you do dare to complain, be prepared to be ostracized. Parents are treated as outsiders, not partners. If you child thinks for his or her self, this is not well tolerated, and they will not bend to your needs to accommodate your child...the inflexibility and narrow minded thinking that oozes out of this place stinks badly. At one time, this school had a lot of promise, but not anymore.

My children receive a top notch education in a loving, Christian enviroment. They are taught how to think, not what to think to pass a test.

We currently have three children at St. Johns Academy and all three are very different with very different needs and talents. I can honestly say that the school addresses all of the special needs and the principal and teachers bend over backwards to make the enviroment rich in learning, caring, and safe. The administration is there to help parents and to listen and react to all parent and student concerns. The teachers are the best we have ever encountered (our children have been in some of the best public and other private schools). If you are looking for a school that focuses on your child and their future you will find it at SJA. If you are looking for a school that will highlight the next rising athlete who puts education second - go elsewhere.

Pretty rigorous 'classical Christian' curriculum. Textbook in most classes are very poor (not Becca). Some good teachers and the appearance of an 'elite' environment. Headmaster is stern and cold and not very approachable. Music teacher is not very good. The school is geared toward honors and high achieving students only which is mostly good.

My son is in 1st grade and has been in SJA since Prek. SJA is a school that puts the children's best interest first! They inspire, encourage, and challenge your child to achieve their best both academically and personally. All the teachers and staff know all of the children by name. The principal and the teachers are great examples of how adults should behave. The children respect the teachers and vise versa. The principal is out front of the school everyday greeting all the children as they come to school. From observation the children all seem to truly love going to their school and seem to be part of a big family. The teachers are there because they love to teach and want to see their students succeed.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
