We have been at Admiral Farragut Academy for 8 years and my kids love it! We started in the Elementary School and next year they will both be in the high school. Because it is a boarding school, the opportunities here are like no other local school. My kids meet students from all over the world, learn to sail, take AP classes, love their teachers, take on leadership roles and learn great values. It is not a boot camp school, check it out.
It's the Best school to me ! I am from the Class of 1978 and I consider Farragut as one of the most important foundations in my life.
Admiral Farragut Academy is the best high school in Florida. Awesome stuff and great education.
My Son just graduated from this school and It was a great school that prepared him for college as well as the diversity of students attending the school from 27 countries it has let him accept people for who they are not where they are from... he has made many lifelong friends among the students as well as faculty.. I would recomend this school to anyone and have many times. He feels blessed that he has had this opportunity..
I love working and living here. I have been at Admiral Farragut Academy for a little over two years now. It's in a GREAT location: walking distance to the beach through beautiful neighborhoods along the Gulf of Mexico and has its own waterfront where the kids sail daily or go boating. Even though we may have a military background, every one here is down to earth and students can be involved at their own desired level. The students are respectful, say "yes ma'am" or "yes sir" and most sincerely care about going above and beyond and taking up all the opportunities we offer. Another reason why I love AFA is because as a team member on the administration, I know that my coworkers care about me as a person. I know that our headmaster understands how important quality of life is. I am so blessed to be here.
As a 1964 graduate of AFA I can attest to the fact that when I entered college I was WAAAAAAY ahead of the other Freshmen. Not only that, but I got so much more than a simple education at Farragut. I learned most of the social skills that I enjoy today. And finally, the friends I made back then are still my closest pals. Our 50th is coming up in 2014 and I believe it will be a record turn out of alumni on campus for a Homecoming. It was worth every penny my parents scraped up to send me to Admiral Farragut Academy for five years. I owe them and AFA for shaping me into the kind of man I am today.
Great Diversity! Too much advertising of the school. The teachers are all characters, they are like no other in the world! The principals are great I love Mr. Graves, Mrs. Grabowski, and Mrs. Fine, they are wonderful. THe school is what you make of it. You can go and get nothing out of it but you can go and get the best of everything! It is very worth it.
this school is fake. it looks good because it's military and there a lot of opportunities but it's not. the academics are not very good. the staff is very judgmental. there have been many situation in which children should have been immediately expelled from the school and were not because parents have paid extra money. there have been others where a child was not properly disciplined and they neglect serious issue. the dorms are disgusting and the food is horrible. the location is not very safe either. the faculty and staff are very inconsistent. i would not recommend this school at all. it simply looks good on a resume because it looks military but it lost the militant ways when they brought in female cadets. it's horrible
We absolutely love this school!!! I grew up in this area and had always heard how great it was and how wonderful the students were. My son started in 8th grade and is now in 10th grade, and we continue to be impressed by so many aspects of this school. My only regret is that we did not enroll him sooner. The teachers and administrators are all highly accessible to both parents and students, plus they actually care! My son was hooked when he heard about the aviation, sailing, and science programs. I was hooked by the educational opportunities; excellent courses, exceptional teachers, high student performance, high student college placement, and exceptionally high numbers of positive roll-models available to my son. Don t let any preconceived ideas of a military school stop you from really seeing what this school has to offer. There is room for improvement with parent involvement. Many parents are involved, but as is most schools not enough are.
This school is highly recommended. The staff are so committed to their students. They make the kids feel good about themselves and therefore raise their self esteem. The teachers take the time to really get to know your child. They are available 24/7 not like other schools. If you email them with any concerns you hear back from them immediately. The students get opportunities at this school that they would never get at any other school. Such as sailing qualifications, scuba diving, aviation science and an excellent marine science program. The discipline teaches real life skills of self respect and self worth. You will not be disappointed to send your child here.
