Please Do Not enroll at this school you will be making a huge mistake. Yes its new, its pretty is has all the "bells & whistles" and even a good state grade but inside its filled with an awful administration, from the principal to the teachers to the office staff. They treat parents like second class citizens and students much worse. Go to the courtyard at any given time & you will hear yelling from teachers at children. The principal or "Dr." as she insists on being called is rude and looks down upon the parents & children. Please read the other parent comments , do your research & look beyond states grade and scores. I wish i had.
The office staff is not very kind, and the school management doesnt do it for me either, however my son went there 3.5 years and all his teachers were great. Espcially Mrs Favata, Mrs F Green and Mrs Jay. Thank you!
In this supposedly good school kids are treated like little criminals, they talked down too and they certainly don't feel cherished. Maybe for some it's a foreign concept "to cherish" and "to be cherished", but that's how students flourish. Very rude office staff led by arrogant and unhelpful administration. My kids were in Bay Harbor School before and over there they have completely different atmosphere, welcoming and homey.
Wow my reviews keep getting deleted too!! Sunny isles beach school is not so sunny. The principal is rude and extremely uncaring. She would be better suited to run a correctional facility than a K-8 school. She only cares about the schools rating and FCAT scores. There is rampant bullying and the majority of the teachers speak so poorly to the children. Communication between parent/teacher is near impossible. Please dont be deceived by this schools high ratings its all smoke & mirrors. Look beneath the surface...
My reviews keep getting deleted, so I'm assuming the schools are now paying this site to keep positive reviews. This school is so pretty on the outside, but horrible on the inside. The principal is a snob. She will only give you the time of day if you're wealthy. The teachers are horrible, yell at kids and act 'ghetto'. They don't command respect at all. The office staff is the rudest I have ever seen in my life. The only thing they care about at this school is keeping their FCAT scores looking good, not about whether or not your child is learning.
My daughter attended the school for the past 2 years, now that she moved to high school do I truly realize how fantastic this school is! The teachers are excellent, the principal Dr. Weisman is a great principal. I did a lot of research before choosing this school and can honestly say that there is no better school in the district or anywhere else in Miami for that matter!
My child attended this school for several years during middle school. She was in an accelerated program and her FCAT scores dropped from her previous school she attended. I was completely dissapointed by the way the principal and assistant principal handled the middle school children. The morale of the students was low, there was rampant cheating, and most of the electives were eliminated. There was uncontrolled bullying and disrespect for the teachers. This school may be good for elemantary school children, however we would encourage parents to look at a traditional middle schools where the faculty is better prepared to handle children and the issues and educational needs that surround them.
Great School, I once met with the principal and she was very personable and professional. Our child s kindergarten teacher was also awesome and showed love for her students. I also love the police presence.
As a former teacher I know what to look for in a school and I knew that this was a GREAT school from the webpage, talking with the staff, and also researching the admistratrion. I moved to this area because of the school. The Pincipal is amazing and really cares about the students and her staff. She is the type of Principal I would want to work for as a teacher. I loved that students were grouped with others on thier academic level and were easily moved to another level if needed, My son had great teachers and was really challenged and loves the school. I would also like to add that the head of the Cafeteria staff is a pleasure to work with as a parent.
Terrible administration, and very unorganized scheduling and processes of regular middle schools. (7th grade view)
